Spending eternity with Marilyn Monroe
From The Age this morning I received the news: the woman who owns the crypt above Marilyn Monroe is auctioning the space on ebay.
It currently contains her late husband, he's been occupying one of the most sought after pieces of real estate on the planet, for the last 21 years or so - after buying it from MM's devoted second husband Joe DiMaggio.
I wonder why Joe didn't use it? He died in '99 and is buried in Colma, California. With his dying words he said "I'll finally get to see Marilyn". In any case, he sold the crypt sometime before - no doubt for a lot of money.
The crypt's seller is intending to move her husband to the crypt next door so that she can pay off her Beverly Hills mansion. Pay off her mansion and stick it to her dead husband who wanted to spend eternity face downwards on Marilyn Monroe....perhaps he bought the crypt next door for his wife and now she's going to take the money and run.
Yes, he's dead but I still find it incredibly disrespectful. I'm surprised that the cemetery is allowing her to treat him like this but I guess after his death, the crypt becomes hers to do what she wishes with it. Wonder what took her so long? Bids are currently at $2.5 million.
