Guys, when you go out to eat at ANY restaraunt, whether it be something high-class, or even Denny's, don't EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER do this.
Because we can't afford a tip tonight, please pass on to management that our server, Robert, was very very helpful, friendly, and made our experience here tonight great. He is an asset - I wish I had cash or a larger gift card!Name withheld

It doesn't matter how good natured you are, or how good your intentions are when doing this... You NEVER do this to a server. I'm not going to say how much their bill was, or what they shorted me, but if you come in knowing that you can't afford a tip, tax, or even your entire bill. Then don't go. Save up your money so that you don't have to penny pinch and you'll enjoy yourselves that much more. Because when you don't tip me, or tip me less than 8%, I LOSE money on you, because I have to tip out on my sales and pay sales taxes. Just don't do it.
I'm glad today's my last day as a server.
