Tailoring

Got my first suit tailored today! Actually, just two skirts. The jackets both fit surprisingly well and don't require any adjustments. Splurged at Femme de Carriere for one of the suits. Even at 50% off, we're talking upward of $350. Ouch. But it's a beautiful suit; dark grey with the faintest of pinstripes. (I feel like there's a sartorial term for this kind of pinstripe; really very thin. It eludes me.)

Not the cheapest alterations around ($20 to take in the sides, $18 to shorten one of the skirts), but I think they fit way better. Slim hips = off-the-rack makes me look like a bag lady. Also = not being able to find underwear that fits. Just discovered this week that La Senza has XS undies, and they are perfect!

It's been a good week for items of clothing fitting properly.

Tomorrow is a schmancy (i.e. very fancy) lunch at the Rideau Club hosted by a bunch of the Partners for successful UFE writers. I am excited, but a little bit daunted by the schmance factor. I will proceed to probably do everything wrong: drink from the wrong water glass, drop my fork , use the wrong knife, spill food and/or drink on my lap (and maybe also on that of another person), choke on my wine, get food stuck in my teeth, and get unintentionally loaded. Good times ahead!!!
