MINI-MOOT REPORT

May 09, 2010 17:17

It's been a busy but fun couple of days - and I got to meet primula_baggins!! It's always such a treat to meet someone on my flist and I'm so glad that Prim decided to vacation in my neck of the woods.

We arranged to meet Friday night for supper - my first chance to get to Boston given my work week. I hadn't realized there was a Red Sox baseball game that night - so the traffic was a mess. I had originally hoped to get to Prim's hotel by 7 pm but didn't make it till 7:30 - what should have been a 30 minute trip took and hour and 30 minutes. I live near Boston but rarely go into Boston - so I was driving into areas that were totally new to me. But I found her hotel and found Prim and then even managed to get us to the restaurant. We had a great meal at Legal Seafood and I had such fun just talking to Prim and getting to know her a little better. I was so impressed by her taking a vacation on her own and all the places she had visited in Boston so far - she's inspired me to try to see more of this great city that I live so close to!! I have been a bit down about not being able to take a vacation this year due to my debt problems - but I realized there are so many things right here in Boston and New England that I haven't seen and aren't that expensive. So hopefully I'll take some long weekends and try to take advantage of the area where I live.

On Saturday I came to Prim's hotel via a different route because I was coming from home and not from work. I followed the directions I had printed out and everything was going great - except for the unexpected traffic I ran into which made me late. And thank goodness Prim had sharp eyes!! The directions had told me to go 5 blocks after turning onto the street where Prim's hotel was - so I was in the process of driving right by her hotel - which was only ONE block after I turned!! But I had to stop for a traffic light and she spotted me and hopped in the car. It was grey and rainy on Saturday - we headed to John F. Kennedy's library which was something Prim wanted to see and was indoors so not affected by the weather. And I had never been there so I was excited to see it too. The signs to the Library were a little confusing and I almost caused an accident at one point - but we did make it there!! It's a fascinating place and you could easily spend several days there to see everything. At one point they had appliances and items from the 1960's on display - and Prim and I talked about all the things we recognized or had even owned. She remembered the days of the Cuban Missile Crisis better than I did but there were certain things about JFK's presidency that I remembered very well. It was very interesting and moving - and I'm so glad I got to share it with Prim. Unfortunately, Prim wasn't feeling well so the rest of the plans for that day were scrapped and I took her back to her hotel.

We had planned to go to Plymouth today, but poor Prim still isn't feeling well. I hope I'll get the chance to see her again before she leaves Boston, but we'll have to see how she's feeling. I didn't take a lot of pics on Saturday - it was hard to really get pics inside the Library and the weather made outside pics hard as well. And I think at that time I was planning on taking a lot of pics at Plymouth. So I only have 1 pic of Prim that I took at the restaurant on Friday - *kicks herself for not taking pics on Saturday* - and since I use the old fashioned camera I can't share it here. I hope I get one more chance to see her before she leaves.

So Prim, if you see this - I hope you feel better and can enjoy the rest of your vacation. And I'm so glad I got the chance to meet you!!

Now I'm going to try to catch up with my flist as much as I can. I hope everyone is having/has had a good weekend - and here's to a good (and healthy) week ahead for us all!! *hugs*
