Editing
I have spent the last five hours editing the first fifteen hundred words of my bang*bang story. The last three hours on a passage that is only 350 words long. I had to fill in a bit with a back story, but not so much that it would bog down to change the tempo of the story, but enough that I could get all the names in of characters mentioned later.
I felt like each word was a brick a mile away that I would bring back one at a time and see if I could get it to fit. Half the time it didn't and I had to go back and hunt for the next word.
All that and I'm going have to re-add a paragraph I took out, or at least the stuff that is in it, to show why the main character does not head off to find the two men most important in his life during his time of trouble.
I don't know where I'm going to put it.
