Hot Fudge Sunday

(No, it's not a misspelling. I meant to type up this entry yesterday.)

OK, so Saturday I had a kind of a rough time b/c I've been dealing w/ some inner emotional work and it's not always easy to do. Nomad helped me through a lot of it by talking to me for a few hours. (Thanks for being so awesome, Nomad!) Then I had a fun evening w/ Eaglewhisper. (It was fun eating a veggie burger and too many steak fries while you had a cup of chili and salad.) We watched Hot Fuzz and laughed our asses off and it felt good to spend the evening together.

Sunday morning going to the Vineyard was quite an experience. I feel like I've been on an amusement park ride. I mean, it was like a sports stadium, a coffee shop, wireless cafe, playground, bookstore and music concert all in one - oh, but it was also church. What else can I say about it?

I don't really care for the fast forward symbol because it gives me the image of life moving too quickly and that's stressful to me. I "get" the idea of wanting to be culturally relevant to the times and trying to bridge the generations, and I don't have a better suggestion. But I think of things moving too quickly or I think of the movie Click.

For those of you who have not seen the movie, don't bother. It was mediocre at best. Just a basic reminder of the fact that if you could skip through the annoying parts of life, you might miss all the good stuff too, so try to savor it all.

Speaking of savoring life, as I was driving home from the Vineyard I had this experience:

The weather was nice - no longer muggy and finally a reasonable temperature. The car was kind of hot after being in the parking lot, so I had the a/c on. The sun was shining in through the windows. I felt the cool of the a/c and the warmth of the sun and it made me think of a hot fudge sundae on my arm. [I don't know if others have had this experience, but there are times when tactile experiences trigger the same parts of my brain as flavors and images, so I feel like I'm experiencing colors or flavors through my skin. Is that one of the strangest things you've ever heard of?]

movies, eaglewhisper, church
