Sherlock
Just saw the first episode. Now I understand what all the fuss has been about. Dear God, it was just amazing. Seriously. And I'm speaking as a hardcore fan of the stories, which I have the entire collection of. But, just this blew me away. Even though the series is a modern-day adaptation and takes liberties with the original stories (must re-read "A Study in Scarlet" ASAP!) it still keeps the "spirit" of the original alive. And I loved their portrayal of Sherlock and how he was simultaneously eccentric yet endearing. Oh and the nicotine patches! I loved that bit! (Since Sherlock was a chronic pipe smoker in the original.)
I can see where the slash fangirls are drawing their material from too. Oh Sherlock, married to your work. Yes. Yes you are. And unofficially to Watson. Ok, in all seriousness though, I don't ship them. I mean bromantically yes, but romantically....no.
I'd been worried about starting this series at all 1) because I don't often watch live-action and when I do it's generally disappointing and 2) I was worried about them fucking up the adaptation. But yes, very, very glad to have been reassured on both accounts. Going to watch the next episode in a bit! And season 2 better come out soon!!! Wikipedia tells me that there is going to be an episode based on "The Hound of the Baskervilles"!!!!! Yes yes and yes again!!!!!! *___*
