Life has suddenly gotten busy, but in a good way. Meg and I are both making plans, and next year is gradually being set up...it'll be a year off for both of us, but will probably end up being a year of working and doing our own things. Laina will probably live with me so that she can go to school in Ann Arbor; I will probably work full time and see about whether or not I want to try for teacher certification, take the GRE, etc. Meg's actually making plans, too, and I think that it'll be good for us to actually work out a compromise in which both of us are giving something and getting something, instead of one of us getting everything (which we tend to do).
My music classes are amazing; I'm loving having my entire schedule be music. I also love having Sibelius now, because it allows me to just sit and write music for hours. It's so easy to get caught up in every little detail, and to see something just come out when all I'm doing is putting in notes. It's so fun to build tunes and harmonies and dissonances and tonal pieces. I actually like my theory class, too...surprisingly...and my film music class is becoming less annoying because we're actually starting to talk about things and look at movie clips and analyze what the music is telling us about the movie. The movies I've gotten to watch thus far have been awesome as well; I'm becoming quite the Hitchcock fan. I've discovered I haven't been as well-exposed to him as I should have been, and that his movies aren't necessarily freaky but are suspenseful and well-rounded - even when the plot is sort of cheesy, like it is in "Spellbound". I'm actually learning things in all of my classes, especially since we're getting into harmonics and triads in my theory class. I'm sitting down to do my homework every day and not getting entirely sick of it. I'm turning things in on time (generally) and practicing and improving. I like this...I like this a lot. The best part about it is still that I'm going to graduate with a BA in Music. I saw it on my transcript and you could not believe how wide my grin was.
Kathy's coming this weekend! We're going to hang out at a Celtic concert at the Ark. I don't know how long she'll be here or even when she'll get here, but I know I'll be happy to see her.
I'm feeling pretty good about life at the moment. It's actually work, buut it's work I like. I don't usually have to work for things, but for this I do, and that's making me actually enjoy it more. Maybe after I graduate I'll get a promotion at my job...maybe.
