I was watching Top Gear earlier this week (a repeat: James and Richard and a group of rocket scientists build some rockets and send a car into space. Yes, it soon plummeted to earth and exploded in flames quite impressively. But still... How much do I love this show?!).
Anyway, I was reminded that James May actually had a garden entered in the Chelsea Flower Show earlier this year. It was made of plasticine, and much to the chagrin of more serious gardeners, he won a prize!
And this coming weekend, James is attempting to build
a full-size lego house, as part of the BBC series, James May's Toy Stories. I do hope we see that series here.
I am sure the antics of the Top Gear boys would be infuriating after a while if one had to deal with them on a daily basis. But from a distance, there is something endearingly anarchic and joyous about their approach to life. They bring fun and much laughter our way. And if it were possible, I would rock up with some lego bricks for James this weekend. I trust he will get his lego house built!

The second last episode of Spooks S7 went to air here on Monday night, and as a result of being asked about the music Harry was listening to as the services crashed into his home, I went in search of Verdi this morning (Va pensiero- Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves). Then of course, I had to find several versions of Speed Your Journey (same music, anglicised lyrics), sung by different Welsh Male Voice Choirs. Then we just went all out, with Men of Harlech, Ar Hyd A Nos, We'll Keep a Welcome and similar. Such stirring stuff! My Welsh ancestors would be pleased.
Anyway, here's a
link to a version of Speed Your Journey, because you too should be haunted by this song.
