This better be fixed the way I want it!

A co-worker, who is a big Star Trek fan alerted me to this: Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth 'Drop Out of Film'.

Frankly, at first I could hardly believe it, but there it was, all over the Internet in multiple sources. Now, I'm just pissed. Someone better figure something out here, because Star Trek needs its Captain Kirk. Other articles are speculating that they will recast Kirk with another actor - NO,JUST NO - or kill off his character since they are at a juncture with having to get a brand new ship for this next film - OH HELL, NO!!!!!!! That would just gut me if that happens. I want Chris Pine's Captain Kirk.

It's supposedly all because of the lower earnings of Star Trek Beyond, which I loved, adored, want to hug it just thinking about it. The fact that Star Trek Into Darkness even beat Star Trek Beyond is mind boggling to me. I won't start on all the things I think were wrong in Into Darkness - hello, Bones wouldn't act like that, walking away from confrontation with Kirk about the missiles - but I will say that the characters in that movie acted against their own norms. Beyond was so much truer with the characterization than Into Darkness ever was.

I blame the suits. They've made some really stupid decisions about Star Trek, starting with the crap they did with Star Trek: The Original Series and culminating with allowing Braga anywhere near an Executive Producer role. (The man couldn't tell anyone what a tricorder was. Seriously?) Now this.

They need to fix this. I don't care how, but Chris Pine needs to be back in that Captain's chair again.
