I'm finishing up Peggy's hat tonight. I'm a little peeved because I've been working so hard on it and I spilled some ice cream on the satin, and there's a noticeable stain. At this stage in the process I can't remove the fabric because there's just so much more to it now. So, I'm doing what I can to remove the stain. Plus I have to figure out how the hell I'm going to line the thing. I mean that in itself is going to be an achievement given how little the remaining amount of fabric is. *sigh* But it progresses, and it looks better and better every day.
Once I'm finished with the hat I've got to get cracking on the garb for me and JD for the Feast. Here are the patterns we're working from.
JD's is the one on the left, and mine is the one on the right. I hope to God the patterns are separate and I don't have to choose between which piece to cut versus another. If that's the case I'm going to be super pissy. We'll see soon enough.
JD's outfit is going to be black balloon pants with a chocolate colored doublet and a teal cotton undershirt. Trims and lacing are in a silvery color.
My outfit is going to be light brown corduroy* knickers, green and gold tapestry-like brocade doublet with a white pima stretch cotton undershirt with a lace collar and cuff. Trims are in a cream and forest green The hat will be in the same green and gold brocade. I have yet to decide about shoes. God help us all if I have to wear the brown fringe boots. I may get loafers, but don't know.
Given that we spent three hours in the fabric store you can imagine how hard it was for us to pick out something that was just right that wouldn't cost us $75.00 a yard. I've got high hopes for this project and I'll post pictures as they become available.
* Yes I know corduory is not period, but this is an outdoor event in October, so I'm not going to go in something skimpy, and I can't wear wool because I'm allergic to it.
