I zipped by another store - Labels for Less- on the way home from work. They had lots of new stock in as well as some winter wear that had been seriously discounted (one rack had sweaters & sweatpants down to $4.99 each or 3/$10). In addition to an armful of other bargains, I was also able to find some jeans for $25 that fit me perfectly. This place is definitely one of my new favorite clothing stores. I'll be culling my wardrobe this weekend to get rid of stuff that doesn't work for me anymore to make room for my purchases.
In the evening, we attended John Pinette's show at the Burton Cummings Theatre. Oh my, that man is funny! Irwin Barker was the warm up act, and quite funny in his own right, but John owned our souls - the applause for his encore was loud and long. He stayed after the show to sign autographs and meet people, but we were both pretty tired and decided it would be better to head home and get some rest rather than wade through the throngs of adoring fans to meet him.
I hope he visits again. He received a very warm reception from the audience, so hopefully he'll leave with fond memories of his visit. If nothing else, the sheer amount & variety of restaurants in the city should be a good draw (we are known as the restaurant capital of Canada after all).
This is one of his earliest performances, and one of our favorites, featuring "around the world in 80 buffets":
