Visa and clothing crises

Seriously, I hate Visas...not the credit cards, the government documents. The Chilean Consulate in Washington, DC just called me, to say that they're just now sending me back the envelope that I sent to them LAST week. But this woman was considerably nicer than the last woman I talked to. Is it a rule that you have to be rude to work at a government agency?

Conversation between me and the Consulate lady:

Me: "Hello?"
Unknown person: "Hold on a second."
***ON HOLD!!!***
Me: {Disbelieving and then frustrated sounds for 5 minutes.}
***I hung up the phone before she got back.***

The only reason I know it was the same person is the accent. Geez!

I guess I'll cut her some slack since she WAS nice the second time around. She was calling because I had asked them to return the Visa materials, and she wanted to know if that meant I was no longer applying for one. I told her that yes, I was planning on applying, but they told me I had to send it to the Miami office. I get the feeling even their people up there have no idea what they're doing with the new Visa procedures. Did I mention I hate Visas?

I have to speak at a luncheon tomorrow for the United Methodist church. I'm thrilled to death about it. I haven't written my speech yet, and that's probably not a good thing. I also haven't washed my outfit yes, and that's definitely not a good thing. I'm supposed to drive to B'ham tonight and spend the night with Stacy so I'll already be in town tomorrow. But my car still has half my stuff in it from moving out last week, and that's probably not a good thing either. Jenn, I don't think that "do nothing for at least 2 weeks" thing is gonna work out well for me. :-)

I am in desperate need of shorts. I only have 2 pairs that fit me, and my fashion sense has no idea what shirt to put with one of the pairs. I think I might go back by Old Navy today and see if they have my favorite shorts in any different colors. I hate shopping. Really makes me wish I hadn't gained any weight so I could still fit into my shorts from last year; that way, I wouldn't have to worry about buying any new ones. Bummer.

I'm missing my suitemates. They always used to come in and play Paper Doll Mallory whenever I needed a cute outfit. I could use their input today. Sigh. I guess I'll just get a bunch of stuff together and let Stacy help me decide what to wear.

Speaking of, I better get going. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
