So... I'm actually writing (among other things) a pokemon crossover.  I got back into the old games recently (I mean the OLD games, because I know those pokemon, I don't really know any pokemon that came after Lugia except for Celebi, so I can make my way through Silver no problem, but that's about as 'new' as I'm gonna get).

.... anyway, I found something that bugged me about it.  I mean, the quest to collect all the gym badges and at least one of every pokemon is great... but I enjoyed the game more when I made it my mission to get one of every variant of Eevee, level my team up, and win at the gyms with THEM, rather than to have one of EVERYTHING (though, granted, that meant I couldn't fly anywhere, so I caught something that could fly... and there were a couple of other important moves that were annoyingly un-learnable for the eevee-lutions).

And really, in the old cartoon (and probably in the more recent episodes as well), not every character was out to catch one of everything!  Why couldn't the game be more flexible?  Why couldn't some game person take all those lovely established places, build up one big game world of all of them, and then people could create their own lives in that pokemon world?  Scary as it sounds, and as a person who has never played any of the Sims games, I'm asking for a Sims version of Pokemon to play - where I can catch the pokemon I want without the pressure of having to catch all of them, where I could start in any city I damn well liked, where I didn't have to deal with Team Rocket if I didn't want to - or where I could join Team Rocket if I wanted to - and where I could just play with my pokemon if I'm so inclined, rather than only letting them out to do battle.

So, there's my little rant.  I probably won't see a Sims Pokemon-world game come out any time soon, but I'd really like to.

muses, game, head, rant, pokemon
