updates and such

Hey dudes.
Here's some news for everybody...

I've been recording a whole heap of things over the last couple of months and such.
In July, I did an album comprising of 7 pieces and it's called 'Slow Sirens'. It was recorded in two days (day one - guitar : day two - cymbals) and is an exploration of drone guitar work and more gritty processing. It ended up sounding more 'orchestral' after we added the cymbals. It is a totally live and improvised album and was recorded straight to PC.
Currently, I'm finishing up an a collection of 'bedroomy' ambient electronics and processed piano sketches. Lots of repetative beat programming and layers of processed keyboard and guitar. I've been adding minor bits of radio noise and processed field recordings too. I really started digging Apparat, Lawrence, the Kompakt Pop Ambient stuff and the Michaela Melian album on Monika Enterprise last year and wanted to really sit down and try to make a purely 'electronic' sounding record. But these piano sketches ended up being on the Tim Hecker/Colleen tip and the beat driven pieces sound like maybe like the kind of record I'd like Suicide to do for one of those German labels...

I've been figuring out things to do with the label again and we've got a couple of things in planning at the moment.
1. Three Month Sunset - Flags Fall single CDR
We've finally got a plan for this. Originally we wanted to do a vinyl thing...but that didn't work with our budget. And then Gabe got asked by Alone Again Records to do an album. And then that slowed down and we don't know what's going on there. So between me and Gabe, we came up with this idea. So you get Flags Fall in parts A and B plus remixes from M.Rosner, Adrian Klumpes(Triosk) and myself under the pseudonym C.S.K.A. We're planning to do this in an edition of 150 in jewelcase with a single card insert.

2. Instruments - Nominal CD
Scott from Endemik put me onto these guys when he sent me the Recyclone album 'Numbers'. J. La Pointe played on that album and I found out about Instruments and I've been totally digging their EP since then. Really fucking cool stuff from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Anyways, we're doing an edition of 100 of that and it sounds like madness. I think they describe it as 'space nerd rock' but personally it reminds me of The Jesus Lizard and some of the old Touch And Go stuff with more of that Sixtoo soundscape vibe too. Which is really fitting I think !

3. Kate + Shoeb - Undercovers split 3" CDR
This is just a little fun thing me and Kate did last week like. I recorded an sound improv on the iBook last Wednesday. Kate recorded a sound improv on Saturday night. Her's sounds nicer and has that drone-fuck vibe. Mine sounds dry and creepy. We're doing this in an edition of 50 and doing handsewn cases (with possibly a buttoned flap) for the cardboard slipcase. We also did a duo improv at work on Sunday in Cagian mode, fittingly named 'paper.scissors.rock'. It's got beats and stuff and that'll be available for download off the website...when we get that all sorted.

We do have a redesigned website but I need to sort out the name and shit so yeah...look out for me announcing that shit.
Hope everyone is good.
Take care and talk soon,
Shoeb.
