so kate's gone back to canberra now and i'm trying to figure out some lovely noise pop riffs.
we have a barbeque for dinner here tonight.
kate's really into this song 'ta douleur' by camille and so i went looking for it online and came across the whole album 'le fil' and it's pretty interesting.not entirely my cup of tea.all the blogs i've been looking at say she's a more accessable bjork.it's vocal heavy and a lot of acapella but i think i dig the more ethereal and grand sounds of bjork then the cool pop of camille.
speaking of acapella - i've been listening to 'desperate youth, blood thirsty babes' by tv on the radio again and 'ambulance' is fucking amazing.there's only a few bands in the world at the moment who sound like nothing else but themselves and tv on the radio are definitely one of them.who would have thought shoegaze, noise pop and doo-wop would make such beautiful bedfellows :-)
adrian from triosk put me on the door at their @newtown gig so me and kate went to see that on friday night after a great day of seeing her try on dresses and eating yum cha for lunch (with the most enthusiastic chinese lady serving us).it was kinda weird seeing the same band within two weeks.a little too fan-ish for my liking but it was a different set and just amazing.laurence pike is just great on the traps.i can understand why evan thinks he can be same-y but within a band context he fills in the spaces with the most amazing sounds.adrian's solo album is just fucking A as well - nice processing and glorious grand piano sounds.
qua was pretty cool too though i thought soma for kinder were definitely the find of the night - beautiful indie pop with fucked up processed guitar noise.and the dude up front was great at controlling his live guitar looping - worked a treat.
it's been a good month back home and with the missus but now it's back to slight isolation and being an internet junkie again.
