Question for you guys....

So because I'm a hopeless nerd who loves to agonize over fine details that barely have any significance beyond a few words in a story, I'm in the middle of working out a floor map of Peter's penthouse.  I like to keep things consistent, and figured it would help to write scenes in the penthouse if I actually have an idea of where everything is.

I've been thinking that he must have some sort of workshop, but I go back and forth on whether it should be attached to his living quarters or a room off the stage. But it definitely needs to exist. I keep meaning to write more magic/illusion stuff into fic, but I rarely manage to work it in.

Also, I don't think you need to be too constrained by the ACTUAL Hard Rock. The film certainly wasn't too bothered. Hello, impossible view and sun-drenched lobby! ;)

A workshop is be a brilliant idea... and really the location could go either way. Near the stage would be more practical in terms of space and being close to all the prop rooms and supplies, but he'd probably have more privacy and unlimited access if it was in the suite somewhere. hmm... maybe one in each place? Smaller one in the penthouse when he wants to putter around and a bigger one by the theater to design the bigger tricks for his show. Though I suppose he could just use the stage itself for that

there's pretty much none of that in the movie.

There's just that one thing with the...snake...thing, that he passes off to a stage hand, when he's first talking to Charley. And I kind of loved it because it implied that Peter just does it all the time, almost without even thinking. But then it's never brought up again.

I kinda prefer not to lock anything into my head canon re: the view and stuff. That way, I can change it to suit a fic. ;) Sunrise or sunset, whatever. There can be... more windows! I feel that there must be a balcony, for instance. Maybe outside the bedroom...

He DOES have a balcony! I didn't notice it until I started really scrutinizing some of the screenshots I've got, but there's a balcony right outside the big windows in the great room.

It seemed to be some sort of stick that turns into a snake or something? It always seemed to me like he was randomly practicing a bit of sleight of hand or whatever, like it was second nature. I imagine he'd have cordless mics for his show... *shrug*

Do you have a screenshot of the balcony? *bes too lazy to break out the dvd*

oh you know what it might have been? Something for the fireball trick. Possibly. I really have no idea, but it's fun to speculate. :)

You can see the balcony in pictures 1 and 5. It's not terribly obtrusive, which is why I only noticed it a few days ago. Hope that helps!
