Got another Tolkien piece on my back. I think it's gorgeous. My artist shaded heavily around the tree so when it's healed and the black has faded a little, the tree will appear much brighter since the actual color white is a bitch. He recommended the illusion as opposed to the ink color.

I seem to be reacting to something near my tattoo. I have tiny raised bumps all over and it itches. Greg said it's hives. I used hydrocortisone on the skin where there was no tattoo and it helped. I am now officially done tattooing my back. It's finished. Smaug the Golden finishes the three book connection. He is The Hobbit, Beren and Luthien represent The Silmarillion and A Elbereth Gilthoniel is The Lord of the Rings. And at the center of it all, of course, is JRRT. So I'm trying to figure out what to add to my back. It'll be a while before I do but I have some options and a lot of time to think about it. First, to even out the level between the right and left side I'll be adding a few Elven stars above the Elvish script.

It's done. All of it. It's so beautiful I could cry.

I've noticed that it appears I'll need to have some more work done on the left side. It is slightly off balanced. I think a few Elven Stars might be in order....I wouldn't want to appear lopsided.

So I'm wondering whether or not I want to go back in and have the purple starburst done. It was supposed to be around the whole tattoo to create a background. Some of the original linework was so thick Watson thought the background was necessary to draw the eyes away from the think lines. I'm starting to think I like it just the way it is ( Read more... )
