Let's Play Galaxy Angel, Chapter 3, Part 1: Very Reliable Sources

Back| First| Forward

Oh, for crying out loud in the sink. Well, I'm still alive, at least. From now on, I am going to make audience participation easy enough that it takes no effort whatsoever. Anyway, it was a Forte/Vanilla tie again, with no one from Team Ranpha's considerable population swaying the vote either way as wild cards, so this time the tiebreaker said Forte.

Ranpha fans, rejoice.

It's been two days since the end of Chapter 2. Tact and Lester are worried about Luft, who we last saw taking the rest of the fleet to act as a decoy, but Tact is sure he's fine. We have 30 minutes to kill until the next Chrono Drive, and Lester sends Tact to go socialize until then while he takes over the bridge. Sounds like the Angel Wing's in the tea lounge, so Tact walks over there.

The Angels, minus Vanilla (she's working with Cera again, as usual), are crowded around a teen magazine that Ranpha is reading to tell their horoscopes. Tact thinks it's kind of silly, but all the Angels say that the fortuneteller, Madame Guapre, is actually really accurate, so they might as well try it. Ranpha seems to really love horoscopes and fortune telling, and she really believes in Madame Guapre.

Milfie's fortune reads: "You'll have the worst luck with the other sex. Someone you don't like will cause you a lot of trouble. Be especially careful of an unexpected encounter." She starts to get flustered, so the only thing to do is distract her!

>What was Forte's fortune?

"Your luck with the opposite sex is bad now, but if you act, you'll get results. Your lucky item is a bamboo skewer." Tact doesn't really get it. Sooner or later, you'll be lucky?

Ranpha moves on to the horoscope for Leo and fills in the variables for her own fortune. The result is... "Right now, your luck is changing. You'll become close to someone unexpected of the opposite sex in a surprising place. This already cannot be stopped!" The other Angels congratulate her, but Ranpha gets embarrassed and tells them to shut up. When Mint suggests that the mysterious guy might be Tact, Ranpha throws a tsuntsun fit and marches off. The rest of the Angels disperse.

Well. That was interesting. Let's hang around in the lounge a bit more.

Forte has come back to the lounge with Vanilla in search of the magazine; they never got to tell Vanilla's fortune, since she wasn't there before. Vanilla doesn't really seem to care, but Forte seems disappointed. I tell Forte she's a good friend for thinking of Vanilla, and that cheers her up. Maybe she can have Ranpha check it out later.

If a tsundere shouts where she thinks no one can hear her, is she still... okay, yes, she is. Ranpha notices me and freaks out, but I calm her down by suggesting that it might be some other guy in her fortune. Like, uh... Lester. Yeah, he works. At least it cheers her up.

Ranpha: Tact, tell me Subcommander Coolduras' birthday and blood type!
Tact: Uh, Lester's? Well... I'm not sure what his blood type is, actually.
Ranpha: What? You're useless.

Mint suggests a new method of "fortune telling" using the gum machine. Apparently, you think of the person you're interested in and the colour of the gumball tells you if your thoughts reached that person. Mint being Mint, of course, she's messing with Tact's head and just going to read his thoughts while he thinks of the person in question. Tact figures it out just before he turns the dial. Never change.

Forte steals Tact's oden at the cafeteria. Apparently, she really, really likes oden, and the stuff at the convenience store isn't as good as what you can get at the cafeteria. I just give up and let her have it. She promises to pay Tact back sooner or later... even though cafeteria food is free.

Other highlights:
-Creta is a closet fangirl of a 14-year-old idol singer named Ricky Kart. She hides it from her subordinates so as not to look like a pedo.
-Ranpha gets annoyed with Milfie a lot since, as Milfie's childhood friend, she often gets the rough end of her luck.
-Shiva's maid won't let you into the royal quarters, and she won't for quite some time, so don't even try right now.

As soon as the 30 minutes are up, the Elsior is hit with an enemy missile from nowhere. Tact runs to the bridge and finds that two enemy fighters are approaching from behind. Wait, where did they even come from? We were perfectly fine for two days.

It'll take some time to get the Emblem Frames out, since the hangar was hit. Only Milfie and Ranpha can get out unobstructed. We're given a choice of either letting Milfie and Ranpha get out first or waiting for everybody else, but really? It isn't much of a choice. Send Lucky Star and Kung Fu Fighter off to fight these guys.

I hope you're ready, because we're about to meet a couple of complete idiots. All I can say right now is, if you think you know these guys from the manga? You don't.
