When you notice, what will you say?

Tuesday, what is this? Why would you do this to me? I feel like I have been smacked in the face with a brick. Well, not really, but I am in physical pain. Emma and I weeded and gardened for three solid hours on Sunday and the backs of my thighs are aching, still. I am serious! It's really strange. They hurt to buggery and it's quite confusing. Still, we feel quite accomplished as the front courtyard no longer looks like Bug City and the backyard, well. You can see the backyard, these days. It's nice.

After we gardened (and then cleaned up because we were REVOLTING), we had breakfast down at Planet Matterz (this has quickly become Sunday tradition) and then hit the highway, searching for the nearest beach. Sunshine coast will always win over the Gold coast so we headed north and got frustrated because we wanted coast straight away and it takes about an hour. Caloundra wasn't good enough for us so we finally found tres good at Mooloolaba. Mmm delicious beach. Except it was overcast and we were too tired to even go in the water but we wandered up the beach and then back down and that was nice.

Oh, I forgot Saturday night. On Saturday night we saw Tegan & Sara at the Tivoli. Whee! It was all ages, so there were half a million underage lesbian stereotypes running around. HILARIOUS. No, it actually was hilarious. Having said that, the band was amazing. Their banter was funny (and LENGTHY but not boring lengthy, just entertaining) and the songs were great and it was just, it was wonderful. Kaki King supported and I was a bit hesitant about her because despite Kira loving her, she is instrumental only (no vocals) and a large part of my love for music wraps around lyrics, but having said that I found Kaki King utterly wonderful and I'm glad Kira's moving in because I know Kaki will get played in the house a lot. And I'm okay with that.

I'm working backwards here, it seems. On Saturday morning, Emma and Dudley (who is over visiting for about a month and stayed with us on Friday and Saturday nights) and I went out to DFO for a day of shopping. Slightly horrifying. Any kind of shopping around Christmas time is not okay. DFO was surprisingly okay, though. Maybe because DFO is predominantly a clothes place? I didn't realise that before we got out there. But that was okay, because I'd done most of my present-buying at Carindale the afternoon before. I bought a lot of things... a lot for myself, too... I got a hefty Christmas bonus from work and it was too exciting not to spend. Perhaps I will show you some of the exciting things I got. SOME OF THE EXCITING THINGS I GOT!

Some other things I did get were a lot of gig tickets. Just when I think that the current year is full of overwhelmingly good tours and can not possibly be topped, this happens:

January 10th -- Sufjan Stevens @ the Tivoli
February 29th -- Stars & Broken Social Scene @ the Zoo
March 1st -- Laneway Festival (Feist, Kevin Drew, Panics, CYHSY + more)
March 6th -- Beirut @ the Zoo
March 9th -- Iron & Wine @ the Zoo

WHAT IS THIS MADNESS! Marie, Brooke, I believe you should smuggle yourself into some Canadian's luggage and come over as well. The rest of Canada's coming, why not you guys? It's only logical.

Anyway. That'll do for now, I guess. Tomorrow night we're going to see Skinny Jean play at Rics. On Saturday night I'm heading out to the Gin Club's Christmas party at the Zoo. next week is Christmas. The week after that is my 24th birthday. Kira will start moving her things in, soon. I need to pick up the rugs from mum's place so we can start to build the den. Maybe I will do that next week, when I am home for Christmas. I need to start pumping out the Christmas tunes, I need to get my holiday spirit on! I was going to upload some Christmas tunes but I am too distracted to do that right now. Maybe you should, instead...
