Adventures in Bannerland...
Decided to say hi and to post a few things that i've made recently, felt a new creative streak in anticpiation of the new seasons coming up.. will probably make more actually cause the inspiration is striking quite hard lately. I'll put new avis up probably in my next post cut for now it's just banners. I don't use them much anymore but I find it fun and it stretches my creativity to have to use more than one pic to to tell a particular story. Now a couple of these are movies and a couple are tv shows and i'll explain each one cause I doubt anyone who reads this has seen all these things (I have weird tastes haha) but anyways here they are in no particular order... (and btw the way i'm doing just real busy during the day, summer and all ;) )
I've had a weird obsession with the Cheshire Cat of late and Alice in Wonderland as well (as you can see by my avi ha) And that's where this particular inspiration came from. For some reason I've always loved that story and those charachters. I want a damn shirt with just his eyes and smile cause theres just.. something about that crazy cat ;)
This one is from Criminal Minds I show i've come to love lately and I wonder why I didn't watch it before last year. It's right up my my alley, a show about the FBI unit that hunts serial killers and the people that work in that field. I've come to realize that SAA Aaron Hotcher,, depicted in this banner is one of my favorite characters, the stoic leader of the BAU (Behavioural Analysis Unit) who paid the ultimate price for the job he does when his wife was killed by serial killer who fixated on him. The banner features a quote by Emerson and and the bottom part from teammate David Rossi, and it aptly describes Hotch's dedication to duty in spite of the terrible cost to him personally. Heroes don't think about the cost, they just do what's right.
A new show that just came in last season, Grimm is one of my favorite new sci-fi/fantasy favs. Police Detective Nick Burkhard finds out that he is from a family of Grimms, those who the real life fairy-tale characters in check in the real world. And only he can see them as they truly are. Nick has trouble sharing this with people closest to him, like his girlfriend Juliet, feaured in the banner with him above. The lyrics to 'My Last Breath' by Evannessence seemed to fit this conflict between his personal/professional and Grimm life. And it's my first Grimm graphic and i'm kind of proud of it :)
Now I hate Twilight with a passion but I LOVE The Hunger Games, why you ask? Better story, better characters, better everything. And it's smarter and deeper than Twilight. Katniss and Petee are fast becoming one of my favorite book series love stories, There's just something about them and the conflict and horror they have to go through over the course of the series, and it remains up in the air as to whether it works out or not. If you haven't read the books and planning to or haven't got to the end of it yet I won't spoil it for you I promise ;) But I thought the lyrics and the particular son they were from,'Whaddya Want From Me?' by Pink/Adam Lambert aptly summed up Katniss's attitude toward her 'boy with the bread' through the entire series. BTW I highly recommend these books :)
One of my favorite characters to show up on Once Upon A Time, and hope he continues to be a regular is Jefferson aka the Mad Hatter (here's one more Alice in Wonderland reference ha) He's so delightlfully nuts but there's a purpose to his madness on the show, in that's he's been trapped in Wonderland and therefore trapped away from his daughter by the Evil Queen. That show dosen't just focus on typical fairy-tales but adds AIW among others to it's wonderful list of characters and the batshit Jefferson is among my favorites and I hope he continues to be a regular on this wonderful series.
Now I know people know I love Lord of the Rings but favorite character in it was Eowyn. When I read the books I ended up just loving and relating to her the most. Don't get me wrong Arwen was awesome but Eowyn just seemed like a regular woman trying to survive in a hostile environment, in a man's environment. She was strong and capable but had weak moments of self-doubt as well. Imperfect, flawed and yet beautiful and fierce, she may not have won Aragorn but she did land Faramir which is not a downgrade in any way. He was another of my favorites and I loved that they ended up together at the end. The song 'Train Wreck' by Sarah MaClaughling had lyrics were perfect for her IMO. I am and always will be an Eowyn girl Shield Maidens rock.
NCIS left us with just such a crazy ending that I'm frothing with anticipation over it returning and seeing what happened to all my favorite characters. Ziva among them. I freaking love Ziva, and Abby, this show has great roles for women, making them smart, tough and yet still inherently female as well and Ziva is no exception. I liked this lyric from Avril Lavighnes 'When Your Gone' cause it sort of sums up how she sometimes feels. Figuring out that even strong women need comfort once anwhile. And I'm a big Tiva (and McAbby)) fan so I really couldn't resist doing another banner.
It occurs to me I didn't make anymore Frings ones but I figure their next, and last, season will provide me with more inspirtations, there's always plenty from them. But anyway, fun and creative times abound here and quite possibly more coming
