San Francisco in 14 days or “What is 5,350 miles between friends??”

I originally wanted to write about SF each day but rain and cold stopped any idea of that; yes, SF suck at 48 degrees and rainy. It was actually warmer in Rochester, NY for 3 days when they hit the lower 50's with sunshine but I digress. I can actually say I found Provincetown, MA interesting one early May weekend at 49 degrees and rainy but again, I digress. Many people took the time to explain the weather of San Francisco and I have summed it up as this, “68 degree days and 58 degree nights; 3/4's of the time depending on which season you are coming into or out of.” I'm more than willing to hear others define it further because of my only two weeks there.

Malvina_Reynolds wrote the song, Little Boxes in 1962;

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky,
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

She was describing the houses on the hills of of Daly City in South San Francisco but I would have to disagree; a couple of subdivisions do not a town make. I will say that I have never been any place before that had so many flat roof homes but remember that I was raised in snow country Canada and we like our peaks nice and tall to help the melting snow and/or rain leave quickly.

I did receive a nice explanation of housing pricing along with property tax systems in place that helped define the term, “House Rich but Money Poor”; interesting terminology for the elderly or widowed. Either way, definitely out of my price range either renting or buying.

My 1st and final host of this trip, Jerry, lives in an old, appears to have been either a 4 story boarding house or small hotel but has since had limited upgrades in order to make them into apartments. My total of 7 nights in his home reminded me of when I had started out in life some 35 years ago and was actually the most comfortable of my trip. A futon mattress on the floor for me in his bedroom / office with a bay window wrap around view of an organic park being built where a freeway ramp used to be. I am now seeking out the type of bird that sang outside the window on the fire escape; something that looked like a Junco but there were definitely green tail feathers. I had hoped to see some of the parrots I had heard about but I guess they were on a cracker break or had flown down to Palm Springs.

Finding out that his Landlord was in the hospital and that the Maintenance Company in charge of repairs was so far behind that Jerry had been filling his toilet from a tap called me into action. I'm the offspring of a Plumber / Gas Fitter / Builder (yeah, I can do concrete with the best of them) / Carpenter and will admit to enjoying getting my hands dirty every now and then. New water connection and value for toilet; rehung 2 doors; correct dishwasher problems; reset front door lock; and created a better digital TV antenna using the fire escape.

My trip to Sunnyvale / San Jose (yes, I know the way Ms. Warwick), started at host #2, Daddy Bear Chuck's rental apartment that was something I would love to retire to alone or with a lover. A nice sized one bedroom apartment at ground level with a little patio outside the front door. The neighbor that lives upstairs has a patio as well. Fairly nice area to walk, shop, relax and only 5 minutes from the Mountain View Caltrain Station.

Surprise hosts #3 were Lee and Don; their lovely home was offered to me when Chuck's super hot date came on the scene (later on that one) and he begged me to stay elsewhere in order to let the sparks fly for him. Spacious and comfortable; more movies dvds that Block Buster. If fact, when all hell broke loose with regards to cancellations, no-shows, etc., and I had decided to return to San Francisco, Lee and Don were adamant that I should stay with them, eat, drink, make merry, and enjoy some Rx grade 420 with a few of their friends. (holy shit; never knew it came that strong; wow.........) They wanted to make up for disappointments (I almost bawled my eyes out over it).

My return to SF to catch the flight out almost didn't happen as I was asked to stay another 7 - 10 days, ticket changes paid and some pocket money to me to help out with a few of their projects before their family arrives mid-March. It broke my heart to have to say no; yeah, Lee is probably my newest BFF on the west coast.

I did get to see the Lone Star and The Eagle along with a stroll down the Castro a bit; definitely would be more enjoyable with warmer weather and definitely less rain.  Also had some incredible Dim Sum and a Tai dinner in San Jose; fun time.

As for the sexual adventurers, well..........let us just say I learned a few interesting ways get a man off and found out that deep deep down inside, I am one hell of a slut........lol..........Met a Dom that I can't get out of my mind; a Daddy that wants me back out there ASAP; and a few people that want to play again.......enough said for the moment.

I was a complete idiot to not putmaster_dave and tbrough  together in one of Master Dave's earlier postings............okay, I have blonde moments too as well as not meeting them while there this trip.   Tim, remember Empire City Motorcycle Club bike blessing and picnic; we will definitely meet up then, if not sooner.   master_dave & master_dave , and a few others, I promise to meet up on the next trip in September unless I can make it soon.

For the foul ups, be it intentional or whatever, water under the bridge...........As Leo Buscaglia once said, "Weak people are mean; strong people are gentle" or as the Dalai Lam has said, "If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them.
