scamming customers should be burned at the stake

Oct 29, 2009 18:33

Since the shop started its' operation in 2006, we've had our share of customers who would run out on their bills. From time to time, I would implement the "pay before you rent" policy. It went smoothly, and so far since 2007 there were no untoward incident regarding customers' bills happened.

Until last night.

I had been very lenient with the customers. Around 9:25 pm, there was this woman who came in and wanted to use open time. I told her that she can only rent for one and a half hours, because the shop closes at 11 pm (and it's been that way since day 1). She agreed, by the time 11 pm came around she was asking Jiro if the shop would really close. Yes, she's that thick to ask such a stupid question even after I shut down all the computers. At first she asked me if it's alright to send a SMS using my phone. And being cautious, I told her that I'm out of credits already. She then asked me if she could use the landline to call her "cousin's" mobile phone. I explained to her that the shop's landline can't make calls to mobiles.

She then approaches me in the counter (I was already doing end-of-the-day audit) and told me that she has to go to the barrangay office. Since I was already tired by that time, I told her "Ok, 35 pesos lang babayaran mo." . She then said "I only have 2 pesos eh." yes, in Taglish. I wanted to smack her with the keyboard, and said "So papano natin aayusin yan? Buo ba ang pera mo? May barya kami dito."

Woman then tells me "Magbubukas pa naman kayo ulit after 11 pm diba?" which was the most stupid thing I've heard all day (and mind you, on a daily basis I encounter a lot of people who aren't really the brightest crayons in the box).

By that time, Jiro already stepped in and said "Ma'am sa Antipolo pa po siya uuwi.", referring to me. She then said "Saan ka sa Antipolo? Kasi tiga-doon ang kapatid ko. Kung gusto mo idaan ko na lang sa bahay ninyo ang bayad. Or iiwan ko na lang sa iyo tong calling card ko."

At that point, I knew that she was just trying to beat around the bush. I rudely told her "Pupunta ka sa internet shop, wala kang dalang pera. Asaan  ang common sense mo? Or matagal mo nang gawain yan?". I then asked her for her name, well guess what, it took her 10 seconds to reply. Scamming bitch.

She then "promised" to give the payment TODAY. It's 6:26 pm in my clock and no "Mildred". Funny thing is, she said that she's going to the baranggay office right? You see, if you're coming from the shop on your way to the said office....you're supposed to go down on the right side of the over pass. We didn't see her go down.

Honestly, if from the get go you checked your wallet and noticed that you don't have enough cash and told me. If you had consumed 15 minutes, I'm more than willing to waive that.

Ugh. No point in getting irate over 35 pesos. So today, I posted this notice on the counter that says "PAY BEFORE RENTING." unfortunately, as big as the sign is, the dumbasses who don't use their eyes won't even read it. And too bad for them, unless they pay first, I don't unlock their computers.
