Last week I met one of my closest friends from junior college. It's funny how I say he is one of my closest friend. He is certainly not one I have know the longest. That honour belongs to my three other friends, whom I have known and kept in touch since Primary One.
No JC - who actually was from my primary school but whom I hardly knew back then - is someone I got to know in, well, jc. He is what I can call a kindred spirit. In many ways we are alike. Of course, I won't say why we are alike 'cos I think highly of him, which would mean that I think highly of myself. Hah. Still, he's the kind of guy I would like to keep as a friend for the rest of my life because he is my kind of guy.
Anyway, the reason I met him was because we went to do some shopping together. He wanted to get my some nice clothes for a big event. He asked me to be his partner and in an effort to make sure I'd say yes, he bought me nice clothes and even dinner afterwards.
Tsk tsk.
What were you thinking? I am his best man for his wedding.
Yeah, JC is getting married. Finally too. Bloody long wait - 8 years actually. I asked him why he is getting married now a few months back when he broke the news to me, he looked at me and sighed: "Lost my freedom a long time ago" I shuddered but I gave him a slap on his back and told him I was really happy that both he and R were getting married. He brightened and asked me to be his best man. Well, not in that way but if you read my previous entry about this, you'd know how he did it and what I said in return.
So we met at Pearl Centre in Chinatown to get my suit and his tux. He chose this tailor because well he works just 5 mins away. One day he happened to wander around the place during lunch and stumbled upon this English speaking Hong Kong tailor dude. He then checked out all the tailors in the building, and the one next to it and the 4 others in a radius of 3km before coming back to this Hongky dude.
But I am pleased with the suit. It cost $300 - cheap for a tailored suit. G2 retails suits between $199-299 and they are very ill-fitting, believe me, I've tried.
Anyway I spent about an hour just talking to him, about his wedding, the stress of organising it and the family politics that go with it. Lots of thoughts came out of that but mine eyes are tearing now, yearning to be closed and smothered with a bolster on top of them. yeah. sleeping time
