To say that he took her breath away when she turned and saw him standing there would have been an understatement. All she could hope for was that she didn't look like an idiot when she finally picked her jaw up off the floor.
Clay couldn't believe Annie's dress. Red, his favorite, and a ball gown. She looked fantastic, and he was too concerned with picking his own jaw up off the floor to worry about hers.
On the dance floor, Annie found it remarkably easy to slip into Clay's arms and just relax there. After several minutes, she murmured, "You're so good at this, I don't know how I could have let it slip my mind."
The smile on her face was soft, as if her mind was replaying a pleasant memory that only the two of them would know.
