RP | Party Time

[For anyone and everyone who has an invitation]Now that Phillipe's home was filling up with faces that Julien just basically didn't recognise, he was having second, third, forth and tenth thoughts about any sort of party. It was too late, though, and he had to like it or lump it. Phillipe knew just about everyone here on some level, as was what ( Read more... )

At first, Jess didn't even make eye contact with him. She held herself well, and even though she might have had to work fucking hard to get where she was, she had learnt from the best. Even off to the left where her gaze was trained, Tom was working the crowd while Stuart had singled out a hot blond lad who was standing with a redhead. Oh shit, that was Braden, his brother. The lad Lauren had apparently dipped her tongue into for a taste of some of Scotland's finest. In fact, it was all of a minute before it seemed like the whole Evans Clan magnetised to each other. Jesus H. Chris, that much hottness in one family should be illegal. No wonder Lauren had looked in that direction for some fun.

But her eyes soon flicked in Phillipe's direction, and then dropped from his face to the rose and then back again. One thing she had never denied was that he was hot. In fact, it was a lot of why she got riled up. Someone that hot shouldn't be allowed to be a bastard. Ironically, she actually remembered Sophie saying something along those lines when Ethan first started trying to woo her. It was the most Jess had ever heard her big sister swear in one short timeframe. "Thank you," she returned calmly and held his gaze as she politely accepted the rose and fought the urge not to reflexively give him a whack in the forehead with it. She cleared her throat. "You must be happy to have your brother back," she added, keeping things civil for the moment.

Phillipe's eyes hadn't left Jess' face and he stood there for what seemed like agonisingly long hours before she spoke to him. And when she did, he couldn't help it if his smile slipped a bit. He shouldn't have been surprised at her keeping it civil. He looked down at his shoes before he gave a nod. "You're welcome. Very much so. He's a huge part of me, my life... I'm always lost without him. Always feels like half of me is gone when he's away."

Jess had never really known any twins. Out of her whole massive immediate and extended family, there wasn't one set of multiples. She did know what it was like to have close siblings, though. She wasn't sure how she would feel if any of them went away for any length of time. She found herself looking from Phillipe to his brother and then back again. She knew they weren't identical, but they didn't look that different. You could pick they were fraternal twins. "Well..." she began, hesitating. "Perhaps we can call it even. You painfully hit on me, my sister painfully hits your brother... with a glass door."

A small smirk tugged at the corner of Phillipe's lips, and he glanced over his shoulder at his brother before meeting Jess' gaze again. "Oui, she did get him well. I truly am sorry for that... painful hitting on you. I do not know what I was thinking. I really would do anything to make it up to you, Ms Morgan. I would like it if we were even and could start again."

"She's been worried she gave him a concussion. Or brain damage. Just made me jealous I didn't have a freezer door handy that day in the office," Jess admitted, arching and eyebrow at him. She hummed in thought. "Start again, even though I know everything from the fact you have a star on your arse from go-karting when you were fifteen to your allergies to what your favourite fashion designer is? How many girls have you told to Google you, Monsieur Chevalier?"

"Non, not that bad. He was sore for a little while, but he's tough. He's probably suffered worse. He was more worried he'd come across like a tosser. Julien is not me, though. He couldn't be a tosser if he tried." Phillipe pointed to his nose as he winked at Jess. "You can take a swing if you like. Or I have a fridge door you can use in the kitchen." He shifted on his feet uncomfortably, and reached up to rub the back of his neck. "Not quite what I'd had in mind, mon amour. I just assumed you would check my business website. There are some things I'd rather a fille found out the old fashioned way. And only one, Ms Morgan."

"No, I think you isolated the tosser genes in the twin set," Jess couldn't help but return with a hint of a smirk finally. "And don't tempt me, Casanova," she warned in amusement as she sipped from the expensive red wine Tom had given her before he got sucked up by the crowd. Though right then, he was eyeing Stuart like sucking in a whole other realm was going through his mind. "I'm a lawyer. I never stop at a business website. I keep digging and digging until I get all my facts."

Phillipe let out a low chuckle as he nodded in agreement. "Oui, perhaps your right. Too much time around computers, and not enough time around people. I haven't learnt how to behave just yet." He grinned as he gave her a slight bow. "It would be my pleasure to be knocked out by such a lovely woman." His eyes flicked to her mouth as she sipped the one before he dragged them away, fighting a serious urge to steal a kiss. "So what did you deduce after all your digging?"

"That he has an unusual fetish for fish and clowns," Jess replied smoothly and turned her head to meet his gaze again. "And that he is surreally similar to my brother-in-law. Depending on how you look at it, that is not necessarily a good thing. Though I can't not give him extra points for the fact he has some deep caring for his brother, seeing as his eyes have sought said sibling out to make sure he's okay no less than seven times in the last ten minutes."

"I just wanted to give you something fun, cherie. Is every gift I give you going to be a fetish now? Does that mean I have a thing for roses?" He was looking at his brother just as she mentioned it and shot her a sheepish look. "I can't help it. I keep waiting for it to become a dream and for me to wake up and find out he's not really here. I really did miss him a lot. It's also hard not to worry about him when he's in a warzone." Phillipe tucked his hands in his pockets so he didn't try and touch her again, and tilted his head as he looked at her. "You're comparing me to Ethan? That really is a scary thing."

"You're telling me. I was on the receiving end when he was trying with Sophie over," Jess snorted, gaze expectedly shifting to Ethan who had just as much presence as Tom. She wondered how many people Tom and Stuart had told about their relationship development. She found herself watching her tongue in case she let the cat out of the bag accidentally to someone who didn't know.

She looked back at Phillipe, knowing he had the same sort of presence, and trying not to give into the urge to shy away from it. Money still intimidated her. Being sent a fish intimidated her because she didn't understand it, and she hated clowns. Yet, she hadn't found it in her to do anything about them, and they were both still in her office. "He looks sort of relaxed... or at least looks like he's trying. You know he's safe now."

Phillipe followed her gaze to look at Ethan before his eyes were right back on her face. He raised an eyebrow as he leaned a little closer. "So maybe you should give me tips so I don't make the same mistakes, hm?"

He gave a nod, his gaze flicking back to find his brother deep in conversation with Lauren. It was amazing how beautiful all the Morgan sisters were, but Phillipe had eyes for only one. "I do, but only for as long as he's on leave. He's getting better, but he's still... disconnected."

Jess pierced him with a warning gaze, her blue eyes locking on his face, almost as if she had just threw up an invisible force-field to stop him coming any closer to her without an invitation. "You can keep your eyes on my face and your pants zipped, Fabio," she told him. "That would be a good start."

She sipped her wine again, and licked the excess from them slowly. Thank god Liam knew his colour-stay lipsticks. "What can you do to help him? I know it's not really the same, but I get slight hints of Tom maybe feeling the same deep down now and again. I've caught him lost in some blank staring at nothing a couple of times. Then, he could just be imagining Stuart's dick up his arse."

Phillipe stilled, not willing to risk more than a smack if he did go too far into her personal space. "My eyes haven't left your face, Ms Morgan. My trousers are also not capable of unzipping themselves even if that would be convenient at certain times."

He had to bite the inside of his cheek as she licked her lips, his hands clenching into fists inside his pockets. "Honestly? I don't know. Just be here, talk to him. Spend time with him. Remind him that he is safe here. That's he's home. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that he is. Tom has been through something traumatic. His mind will still be recovering. I heard the sexual healing did wonders."

Jess looked down into the dark liquid in her glass as she hummed in thought. "I've heard the same thing, though I'm starting to wonder if it's the Holy Grail or Atlantis, because I've never experienced it. I'm sure if he asks nicely, Lauren would be happy to help your brother out on that front. She's been with at least one other guy in the room, but she only has eyes for him."

Phillipe pulled his mouth to the side briefly before he shrugged. "I'm never experienced it either, but I'll admit I haven't decided it's a myth. Anything that involves sex and healing must be true," he commented with a brief chuckle. "I guess I'm known a few too many couples to have gone through it. I'm not so sure he's willing to ask. He's still a little gunshy on that front. He wants the real deal - he wants true love, and more than just sex. She's really that smitten with him, huh? I know how she feels. Although in all honesty, I haven't been with anyone in this room."
