[For anyone and everyone who has an invitation]Now that Phillipe's home was filling up with faces that Julien just basically didn't recognise, he was having second, third, forth and tenth thoughts about any sort of party. It was too late, though, and he had to like it or lump it. Phillipe knew just about everyone here on some level, as was what ( Read more... )

Stuart was a copper. He had learnt long ago how to blend in when he needed to, it went with the territory of surveillance and undercover, and he had always been effective in his job. He could even completely conceal his Scottish accent in favour of a cockney English or Irish one if he needed to. It just wasn't a very common known fact. He didn't mind being here at the party and putting in the appearance as Tom's date, but the truth was, he'd rather get a kebab and a six pack with his new fiance and chill out on the sofa watching a good movie. He'd had enough of socialising and looking the part, he wanted to let it all hang out.

But everyone had been invited, so it was basically a done deal. The only ones who actually seemed absent were, expectedly, Gee and Fitzpatrick. Gee had called him earlier and told him that Euan wasn't in the best shape, still feeling shitty after the surgery. She was going to play Bad Nurse Cop, and haunt him to take care of him whether he liked it or not. But even Devlin and his other half were here and looking like they were enjoying themselves. Stuart was just on his way to the bar for another drink when he was suddenly grabbed by the back of the kilt and tugged backwards, almost losing his balance. He spun around and found Angus smirking deviously at him, to which Stuart merely flipped him off. "Tosser," he said with a snort of amusement. Afterall, it was pretty hard to give your baby brother a wedgie when he wore a kilt, so Gus had resorted to the next best thing.

Angus might have been the shortest Evans brother, but he could give as good as he got... though was often the instigator to start with. He reached up and draped his arm around Stuart's neck and gave him a squeeze. "How's my favourite wee brother doing on this fine London night, hm? You're my favourite because I'm scared Brades is gonna snot all over me if I get too close. By the way, care to tell me the wedding is, Stuarty?" he added and then grabbed Stuart's left hand, holding it up in front of both their faces where the expensive looking diamond ring was impossible to avoid. "Or have we already missed it?"

Stuart had the decency to look like a deer caught in very large headlights for a few moments, before an indignant and loud, "NO!" slipped out before he could stop it. He looked sheepishly at the nearby guests he caught the attentions of and then twisted out from under Angus' arm so he could face him.

He had to dipped down with a gasp though when Angus kept a firm hold on his wrist he would've hurt himself. "I wouldnae ever do that! Quit being a fecking bastard and make me wet my... well, I'm nay wearing any, but you know what I mean! It isnae a conspiracy!" he hissed, leaning close to Angus. "I wanted to tell you all at once, and I've been trying, but it's been impossible. Iain's been staying at Ryan's and you were at Iain's with Jules, and then Bradie fecked off to a hotel for a dirty weekend with Kenzie. Cal's back in Edinburgh, even if he managed to fly doon tonight with Karen for the party, which I really appreciate. I havenae had the chance! It's impossible to get us all together anymore!"

The penny well dropped for Angus now why Stuart nearly gave himself a hernia trying to get everyone to this party tonight when technically none of them even knew Ethan's business party. It was, admittedly, a good way for them to meet people who were party of Stuart's life now. The only thing was, he wasn't specifically clear what Stuart was trying to tell him. He suspected, of course. The ring was expensive, and Tom was also wearing a very similar piece of jewellery on the same finger to Stuart's. But that didn't necessarily mean anything. For all Angus knew, Stuart might be about to drop a bombshell on them that one of these lassies in the room was carrying a surrogate baby for him.

"Hey... hey... Stuey, buddy, chill. Take a breath, yoga style. You want me to flash everyone to get their attention?" he offered.

Stuart wet his lips, reflexively looking around for his other brothers before his blue eyes turned back to Angus, locking him with a slightly panicked, yet slightly relieved gaze. His family knew him so well, it was impossible to have secrets from them. He tried to bite back an excited smile, but there was no hiding it. "Tom and I are getting married. We dinnae know when yet, but on the last night of the cruise, he proposed to me. Only, the thing is, I was about to propose to him too. So, I guess you can say it was a unanimous vote. I didnae say anything to anyone... except I spoke to his mum and dad on the phone to ask them permission. Dinnae laugh! I didnae know what the ettiquette was, and he doesnae know that, so dinnae say anything! I might die of embarrassment. I just... Da' always told us we had to ask permission."
