RP | Party Time

[For anyone and everyone who has an invitation]Now that Phillipe's home was filling up with faces that Julien just basically didn't recognise, he was having second, third, forth and tenth thoughts about any sort of party. It was too late, though, and he had to like it or lump it. Phillipe knew just about everyone here on some level, as was what ( Read more... )

"Loneliness," Julien offered, pressing his lips together with a wry smile. "Not to say that your sister is not beautiful, she is. Phillipe has always had tastes for the finer things in life. But I think he subconsciously panicked when he met her. He is not as suave as people think. When he has feelings for someone, even in their early stages, he actually can get really tongue-tied and nervous, covers it with overcompensating the player routine. He threw up once when he wanted to ask a girl out. Never did end up asking her because he chickened out. It was years ago, though. He's got more confidence since, but it's still there. And at the end of the day, who doesn't hope to meet someone special one day? Maybe he just knew off the bat your sister was just that? He just screwed up, and he's been kicking himself in the arse since."

He watched the crowds where the blond model was and laughed. "I don't know any of those people. I only know the tanned one has to be Tom's partner, and the kilts are probably indicative of them being his family. I don't know the redhead or anyone in about a thee meter radius there, and it's supposed to be my partner," he said with a smirk. "Would you like to be an agent, your insecurities aside?"

Lauren looked over at where her sister and Phillipe were, watching him with new eyes. Now that Julien had mentioned his brother's tendency towards nerves she could certainly read the little hints in his body language like the way he kept wetting his lips, and the shift of his weight from one foot to another. "She's going to take some convincing. It's insane how quickly she's written him off. I guess we all do want to meet someone special, but if it doesn't go the way we dream of we're quick to dismiss it."

She smiled as she moved a little closer to Julien and pointed again. "I don't know the redhead either, but the tallest dark haired one is Iain. He's the restraunteur. This is all what I've figured out for myself, by the way. And with Liam's help. The guy next to him is his boyfriend, another doctor. He's ex-Army though, I think. Or maybe it was the Marines... He's American. The shortest one tugging on Stu's kilt is his other brother Angus. Callum isn't here, he's a football star in Scotland." Lauren rest her hand on his arm. "Your brother's heart is in the right place, but it would definitely be hard attending a party for you where you don't know a single soul. No wonder my sister's taken you under her wing. I... yeah, I would."

Julien laughed and shook his head. "Hey, I might be his twin, but I don't deny he could use someone to keep him on his toes. She's a modern woman, doesn't take shit. That's not a bad thing at all. If she doesn't want him hitting on her and making fleeting comments about her body, then damn straight she should let him know about. The thing is, it just makes him more hot for her," he said in amusement.

He looked over all the people she was pointing out and nodded slowly. "Actually, I caught the America accent in passing, just didn't think much on it. It's quite a gathering, it makes my head spin a little. I'm not used to being around this many people lately without them being in camo. Don't get me wrong, though, this sort of scene I'm not really foreign to."

Lauren pushed her hair out of her face as she grinned. "Glutton for punishment is he? Then he must really be loving how Jess is treating him. She's still wondering what the fish and clown meant. Personally I think it's sweet. He's thought about the presents he's got her, not just sent a generic bunch of flowers."

She raised an eyebrow. "Not foreign to it, but still don't like it? It's okay not to, you know. I know I have a big family, but that doesn't mean I don't like the more intimate type of gatherings. Which we somehow manage to pull off even with our numbers."

"But she's a lawyer. Aren't they supposed to overanalyse everything?" Julien at his brother and then smirked, shaking his head slowly. "Non... that's the thing. He usually isn't."

"Never much liked it," he corrected. "But you get raised in this sort of enviroment, it's just second nature. I was a bit of a black sheep. We have a big family too, just mostly extended family members throughout France. Mingling makes me appreciate pay TV," he laughed.

Lauren nodded. "Sure. And she does, trust me. She thinks a lot about things. She also works hard, and I don't think she's letting herself want anything that might interfere with her job." Lauren smiled. "So he really does want her, huh? Wow... I'm impressed."

"Are you planning on getting back to France at some stage?" Lauren laughed as well. "Well, sure. I can see that."

Julien raised his eyebrows. "Could be why she clashed with Phillipe. They actually sound very much alike. Sans the poorly timed perve fest he indulged in the first time he met her."

He nodded. "Oui, bien sûr. I miss home, I'll visit my family soon. But I'll have to come back, pick up work on the base in Middlesex once my break is over. I'm not just a pilot, I'm an engineer, so I do a lot of technical work when I'm grounded."

Lauren looked over at her sister, and gave her a small wave when Jess looked at her. "Well, he really did stick his foot in it with that. She might get over it if he keeps looking at her eyes, and not her breasts. Funnily enough I can't remember the last time someone openly perved on me."

She bit her lip. "I've been to France once as a child. Can you imagine us Morgans invading your homeland? All us noisy Brits. It was the one and only holiday our parents could afford. It was for their wedding anniversary and they just couldn't go without us." She blinked as she looked at him. "Oh wow, that's cool."

"He would be a fool to simply keep looking at her breasts when she has a whole presence about her," Julien reasoned. "Your sister has an insecure streak, non? Fears failing herself. I can imagine it poked at a sore and sensitive spot when people take her for granted, assume she is something she isn't. If she really isn't interested in a relationship, she won't string him along, will she? She'll tell him outright? Because he might have pissed her off, but it's not fair to let him think she might be interested at some point if she won't. I can't see him hurt. I won't see him hurt."

He smirked. "You'd be surprised how many noisy Brits invade our homeland during tourist season. Family vacations... our parents were always too busy for them. Too many social committments."

Lauren pulled her mouth to the side before she gave a shake of her head. "No, she won't lead him on. I honestly thought she'd have told him to piss off by now with how angry she was, but maybe he's really getting under her skin."

"I wouldn't, and I just really hope I'm not one of those. They're so embarrassing and obnoxious. The French must really hate tourist season. That's sad... They still had time for you two at least, didn't they?"

Despite her words, Julien was now watching Phillipe and Jess closely, seriously wondering if he should intercept. Only thing was, if he did, Phillipe would probably deck him one for ruining his second chance and Julien had to stamp down the protective brother side of him trying to break through. "I can't profess to know your sister's intentions, unfortunately."

"It's been a long time since I've been anywhere near the tourist parts of France. We live more in the country than near the likes of the Eiffel Tower. They did, always. Just maybe not as much as a general family. With a heritage like ours, you have obligations. It's why Phillipe is more well-known than me, more prominently in the spotlight whether he likes it or not... he's the family heir."

Lauren reached out to rest her hand on his arm. "Sometimes I can't either, but I promise she wouldn't hurt your brother on purpose. I know how you feel right now, remember? I'm just as concerned about him hurting her."

"I always wanted to see that side of France. I think the more rural parts of a country interest me than the tourist spots. I mean, we live in London. It's one big tourist city. I don't need to see it somewhere else." Lauren's eyebrows went up before she could help herself. "Shit... That's some responsibility."

Julien ran his thumb around the top of his beer and shrugged. "Sometimes is unintentional hurt that hurts the most. Neither of us had particular pleasant romantic lives. Some filles don't like sharing their lovers with a twin brother on the sidelines. We kind of come as a joint package."

"You should. It's magnifique. It will always be home, but sometimes you just need to be where you're meant to be. England for both of us right now. I have lived in London, until I shifted to Middlesex. Luckily, it's not very far away. About twenty minutes drive, or so." He nodded. "Indeed, not one he really has much choice on. He nose if he turns his back on it, it lands in my lap and he just wants to protect me. There might only be a few minutes between us, but he's the best big brother."

"I wouldn't mind," Lauren found herself saying as she looked at him. "Whoever decides they want me has to take seven brothers and sisters plus extended family. We all come with something, or someone. It's their loss if those girls couldn't handle it."

"I will eventually. There's a few places I want to see, but I just keep a list in my mind and one day I'll manage to start travelling. Twenty minutes really isn't bad at all. At least you're still close to Phillipe." Lauren smiled. "I'm beginning to see that. Maybe my sister will too eventually."

Julien glanced around at the siblings of hers that he had been pointed out and shrugged. "Oui, guess it's just one of those things. I've encountered a lot of filles who seem to struggled handling different aspects of life. My twin, dating military, French people, their own breasts, food..." He sniggered. "And they wonder why some men are gay."

"Why don't you just start travelling now? You know, if you're an agent, you'd be doing that. All your clients wouldn't be in one place," he pointed out.

Lauren's nose crinkled. "All those problems in one woman? I'd be gay too. Hey, why aren't you gay? If that's not too personal a question. And in my own defence not all us filles are like that. I don't have a problem with your twin, French people, my own breasts, or food. The military thing I'm not sure about. I've never dated military before."

She stuck her tongue in the corner of her mouth as she glanced over at Braden. "You're right... I would."
