A thousand words. Or four.

I was raised by a Trekkie. My mother was present for the very first Star Trek convention. She has her Starfleet Academy graduation certificate hanging below her Masters degree. I really, really hope the lens flares will make a triumphant return. :)

The fandom wars are so frustrating. There's no reason whatsoever why they can't coexist, or why people who come for the Cumberbatch can't come to love and appreciate Trek in and of itself.

I thought the trailer already was very promising in regards to lens flares. XD

It seems some people just can't be happy and need something to argue about.
I can understand that it could be annoying for long-time Star Trek fans if there are a lot of newbies who ask questions with kind of obvious answers (as in, "Please just watch one or two other Trek movies!"), but then again - we all need to start somewhere! And I feel if more people welcomed the new fans and helped them (e. g. showing them FAQs or whatever) instead of being patronising and claiming they're no "true" fans because they came over for Cumberbatch, it would be so much better. Because then the new fans would be encouraged to look deeper into this fandom.
