update because I need an update

Crazy time still seems to last longer, don't they? Things are still going a high pace here, 10-12 hours days in average. Every evening, I need at least an hour to get my mind totally out of work. My goal is to never bring back work home (what I do), but it's hard to totally let one's mind go free of job related worries, isn't it? And, as I know I cannot sleep if I keep thinking about it, it takes me forever to get fully out of my cube, figure of speech. Anyway, I haven't slept OK once in the last two months, and I refuse to take sleeping pills, or to drink myself off to find sleep!

As a consequence, of course, as I feared, I had to give up rugby once more. I cannot make the practice during the week, so, by personal policy, I do not play the games on Saturday. I attend them, but I stay on the sideline. And yes, I go drink up with the guys afterwards, but I always go home early now. Too bad, the team is doing great this season (www.portlandrugby.org). Needless to say I put on weight again, as I'm not running or biking or whatever, and my best friend is once again my TV! oh well, things will change...

Talking about work again, well, we had some interesting results, but the project isn't safe yet, we basically need to sell it everyday to the management staff. That means a lot of presentations to prepare, and it's also performance review time, and that of course means extra hours to prepare all the documents. Luckily, we are in the middle of the basketball tournament at the company, 5 minutes at noon every day, and my teammate and I have a good chance to go to the final! Then, we'll get halloween lunch, thanksgiving potluck, and Nov 10th is a holiday! (guess what: I'll have to go to the lab anyway...) But maybe I'll work out a plan to get out of Portland for 2-3 days that weekend.

I'm also looking forward to Thanksgiving, I'll be down to Florida once more, at Ft Myers, for 3 days. And then, France here I come! Who knows how things will be at work at that time? But I'm still confident and optimistic, so, I'm not that worried actually. Maybe the nice weather we had so far was also helping.
