By now I'm sure you've all heard the events of what happened this morning in London, and don't worry, I'm fine. I have "Sex and the City" season 5 to thank, as it made me twenty minutes late getting out the door because I was too wrapped up in watching an episode to get to work on time, or else I would have been in one of the stations or on one of the trains where an explosion occurred. Both the station I take to get to work, King's Cross, and the station I get off at, Russell Square, were targeted this morning, and thanks to Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda, I'm still in one piece.

While information was incorrect and poorly distributed to those commuting, there was not an overly-distraught feeling in London while me and the others trying to get to their offices were seeking alternative forms of transportation, and unaware of destructive motives, boarded buses which very un-conveniently let us off in the middle of Farringdon as they had just been informed of the bombing of buses elsewhere in the city, forcing us all to walk rather than risk another attack. Eventually, I gave up hope of getting into the office after texting with my boss who also gave up trying to get into central London from Southgate, and walked an hour back to my flat (in stilettos!), by way of some creative Edwardian cobbled alleys I discovered while being diverted away from the street I live on as most major roads were closed by police lines.

I finally learned the details of what happened when I popped into a small pub to join the crowd watching the news (and drinking at 11am). While we were originally told it was an electrical surge, Tony Blair made the statement he would be leaving G8 meetings to attend to London business for a few hours due to terrorist attacks on the city. As I write this now, I can still hear police sirens coming through my window, but it seems as if things are relatively alright. In addition to the sirens, I hear people playing cricket on the green near my flat, and I'm going out for dinner in a bit, provided some places are still open, so London seems to be comfortably numb to today's happenings.

(sorry if you got this in email form, but you know...)
