Live from the Gig!

Three people cancelled on us due to illness, but it was still cool to meet some people from lala tonight. Shana was unable to go, but maybe that was for the best considering how few people showed up.  SandyMan and Ricky Raccoon made it out and Ricky brought avatar buttons for us, which was cool as hell. The Gig turned out to be this really small joint with a few tables and stools alongside the bar with a tiny stage. Turnout for that night was low, with really the only audience members besides us being the friends of the performers. Only two acts performed that night...the other two ended up being no-shows. The second performer was largely forgettable...mellow folk rock...it sounded fine, but it was very generic.

No, it was the performance of the opener, Karisa Winett, that made the show. I thought she was quite good, plus very attractive to boot...a petite lovely with long black hair and a strong voice in a style reminiscent of Jewel.  I'm sure she actually wasn't, but it felt like she was glancing at me every so often while she sang.  Since I was the only person sitting where her eyes would sometimes go, she definitely wasn't looking at someone else in my general direction.  After her set, Ricky brought her over to our table and she chatted with us briefly.  I introduced myself and told her I liked her song Mr. Incognito, a song she introduced as having been inspired by this guy she had a crush on that was the socially awkward type.  I said I related to the song and she responded by telling me I'm her type.  How very nice!  I think I'll try to catch her next performance at The Gig in January.
