A last post before bed

Tonight I watched the first three episodes of The Kennedys, that was showed on ARTE. I didn't expect much but I watched it for Barry Pepper who is one of the best American actors these days, in my opinion.

They hinted at JFK's Addison disease but, so far, shied away from the subject of Rosemary. Poor Rosemary Kennedy, still written off.

Anyway, The ( Read more... )

THAT was a great interview! Gods, he's such a good actor and it does sound as though all of us, him, the writers, are on the same page!

As he said their world of Mike is similar but the writers rule and he must obey even when he disagrees. I think that every actor tends to build a backstory in their head for the character they play to make sense of what they do, to give the character a kind of memory.

I don't remember Wiseguy, but I did watch Magnum PI and The Equalizer. They were strange and formulaic, but I rather enjoyed them (and Mr Cee wanted a Ferrari like Magnum!)

I was about 11-12 when I watched Magnum and thought that Tom Selleck was the most beautiful man walking on Earth! ;- )

Wisegy was showed in late 80's-early 90's over here. The journey of an undercover cop in the mob world was rather dark and intriguing. The first arc, with Sonny Steelgrave, was the best, but the second arc wasn't too bad either, and had a young and unknown Kevin Spacey.

Did I wish you a Happy Birthday? I cannot remember because my modem and my router both got fried by a lightning strike. So I have been offline. Happy Birthday!

You should try A&E's LONGMIRE. Another man in a hat.

You did!

A lightning strike? How scary! Better the modem and router than you, but it must have been a pain in the ass.

I've seen the pilot!

Well, it wasn't bad, even though it isn't Justified. There's a bit of Jesse Stone vibe coming from Longmire. The scenery is beautiful.

There is a bit of a back-story going on about his wife and something that happened in Denver. The scenery is beautiful, but it's not Wyoming. While there are mountains in Wyoming called the Absaroka (they are volcano-clastic), there is no Absaroka county. I immediately recognized the location of his house in the first show, it was the Valles Caldera (a collapsed volcano) in northern New Mexico. I checked into the show and they do film in that local.

Same thing happens in Justified. The bridge in to Harlan in the opening of the show is actually one in a Pennsylvania town.
