I have a little more time now.
They have now sprayed the apartment, but I don’t think it’s going to make a whole lot of difference at this point. Apparently this was the forth time this man has been in, and if it hasn’t fixed the problem by now, it’s not likely the problem will be fixed this time.
I had a long talk with _P_, our supper/fix-it guy which went much better then most of the conversations I’ve had with him in past (possibly combined). He immediately offered to replace the bed, and in-fact he has removed it entirely. Our hope is to negotiate a cash deal for the price of the bed and upgrade from there. How long does Ikea take to ship? No point in getting a new bed until the problem is fixed, as the bugs will just infest again.
Unfortunately I could tell _P_ was very under informed as to how serious a problem like this can be. From everything I have so far gathered, Bedbugs are one of The Hardest infestations to get rid of, and I don’t think the ‘vacuum cleaner’ suggestion is going to cut it. I hope I was able to enlighten him with what little information I’ve gathered so far, but who knows?
Also in that conversation _P_ asked if we were comfortable going back to the apartment and I very carefully left this open. I suspect what may happen at this point is we will see about negotiation a deal where we transfer our lease to another apartment in another building. Neither Alia nor I have any real wish to move again, but the desire not to return is much greater.
Other little things, like the power outages, the recently discovered mold in the walls, and large muddy boot print in the tub from the man checking for mould over the weekend, the crud falling from out ceiling due to the roofers, the completely unlit location of the buildings garbage dumpster (far side of parking-lot) our new lack of trees… the list goes on. I like the apartment, the location, the look, feel, and size, but the scales are tipping, and I think we’ve been given a way out.
Paramount isn’t so bad, many of the problems have been found because they are trying to fix up the place they only recently acquired.
Time will tell, I’ll keep people up-dated.
