Smallville nostalgia

The Top 25 Smallville EpisodesHourglass, Shattered, Transference, and Nemesis were all major omissions to me, personally I would have replaced season 4's Onyx with Transference. And while I agreed with *some* of the finales and premieres that were included (Crusade, Commencement, Odyssey were all unarguably epic episodes) I didn't agree with ( Read more... )

Same for me, I used to be *such* an obsessive fan, it would be nice to catch up with those characters again

Wow, that is a terrible, terrible top 25 IMO!

Seems only really interested in the 'iconic' Supermanly stuff, the spectacle, the fights, the big tentpole eps and the comics characters turning up (which kind of misses the point as SV is a re-imagining in it's own right not just a televising of the comics). Also biases the list towards the later seasons with the parading of superheroes through town, which I had no interest in at all.

Only 2 of those eps make it into my personal top 25 - Red (my number 17), and Memoria (my number 2). 11 of them aren't even in my top 100 (why yes, I did once rank all 216 eps (I counted the two parters as two separate eps) from best to worst). His number 1 ep? I ranked it at number 133 :D

Me and this reviewer were clearly watching SV for (and seeing) completely different things. Also I can't really take any review seriously which contains the line "as well as a great vehicle for the return of Lana Lang" for on my planet there is no such thing!

Aww, you wouldn't include the pilot in your top 25 then? I still have a huge soft spot for that episode

And I know what you mean, it felt very much like it was a fairly casual watcher who was just picking out the landmark episodes that they felt like they should be singling out, whether because some villain or another made an appearance, or something else ~iconic~ happened. And I liked Absolute Justice a lot actually, it was interesting to see the show trying something different, but all-time best Smallville episode? I think not!

Ah you're right sorry I do have the pilot in my top 25 - it's number 21. Missed that one, oops!

Yes, it has the feel of someone who came into the series late for the eye-catching eps and then went back and had a quick zip through the early seasons, which they then didn't like because they don't have the flashy (desperate) stuff of the late seasons.

I feel you on the too many rewatches, too little time. I'm also trying to get through all of Gilmore Girls before the revival (on my first watch actually), but I'm not thinking I'll make it at this point...and at some point I need to watch more than season 1 of Farscape.

Yeah I brought the Blu-Ray complete sets for both X-Files and Farscape recently, and I still haven't made my way through either of them :( That's the problem with these shows that have multiple 22-24 episode seasons to get through, not so easy to binge-watch as the 12/13 episode shows on Netflix!
