Snowflake Challenge, Day 14
In your own space, ask for help. Need a beta? Always wanted to learn how to make a vid? a fanmix? icons? Maybe you’d want to have someone cheering for you while you work on an upcoming big bang or fannish bingo?
To be honest, I don't need any help with anything right now. But the hardest thing for me to find when I do need it, is a beta. It seems like when I need one most, they're few and far between.
I used to have a friend way back when I first started writing fic who was a collaborative beta for me. He'd help me as I wrote the story, rec where he thought things would best go, which scenes I should include. And then when I needed help working through something that was fighting with me, he was there to walk through the scene with me. It was the most amazing thing to have as a writer and I miss it terribly. It's really difficult to find that person to work with you through your stories, even when they're not their cup of tea.
I'm not posting this here even thinking I'll ever find that. But if this post helps me find a reliable basic beta for the few fics I write, then that'll be awesome. :)
