On to day 5 of The Snowflake Challenge!

Day 5

In your own space, share something non-fannish you are passionate about with your fannish friends. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I thought of writing about a few things, like my love for board games (and absolute woe that nobody ever wants to play them with me) or my total adoration for all things technology. I narrowed it down to two things, (because I'm fickle and can't make decisions).

1. Museums. Art museums, history museums, science centers, and historical sites. I love them all. I love to look at the art and pieces of history. I like to be able to try things and explore at the science centers. I love learning and having those things before me. Whenever I go to a town or city, I like to see the local museums and other historical spots.

My best memories of the city I've visited is often their museum or science center. When we went to Cleveland, we were excited about going to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, but we discovered that their science center is amazing. When we spoke about our trip to friends, we glossed over the former and raved about the latter.

Pittsburgh has an amazing science center, one I can't recommend enough. And their art and history museum is fantastic (all named after Carnegie). Also, the Andy Warhol Museum and Frick museums in Pittsburgh are worth every minute you spend there. Also, Pittsburgh has so much history right there on it's streets, whether it's Fort Pitt or any number of it's old buildings and brick roads, there's more to see than you'd think.

My fondest memories of Chicago are the Museum of Science and Industry and the Art Institute Museum. Both were amazing and I loved visiting them, especially seeing some of my favorite works of art at the Art Institute. When we went, we even went on a tour of Chicago. They showed us houses where the original entrance is a full story below where the road is now and all the old gangster sites.

Washington DC is so chock full of museums and historical sites, that what I've managed to visit barely covers a fraction of them. I'd need several weeks free just to see all that I could there. But for someone who loves these places as much as I do, DC is a dream.

Seriously love museums, science and history. They make any vacation or empty day better.

2. The other thing I wanted to talk about was crafts. I'm a huge craft geek. I'll try any craft once (and probably have). I've done cardmaking, prints, scrapbooking, crocheting, painting, sewing, and so much more. I have the materials to do a million other things and even my own little space for crafting.

My sisters and I are working on a crafting blog, which sadly we're having trouble keeping up with. But my goal this year is to finally get it off the ground and make a commitment to posting to it regularly.

Time, why is there never enough of you?
