„Hankyung, I’ve been looking for you,“ the leader informs sauntering into the kitchen. „You have? What is it then?“ The Chinese man asks curiously handing Donghae, who is cutting vegetable, a bigger knife. „I just wanted to let you know in advance that today’s dinner is for 11 people only. Now that you know, you’ll have less work and the food won’t go to waste. It’s a win-win situation,“ the leader grins widely. „Really? Then, who’s missing out on my awesome dinner?“ Hankyung asks releasing a chuckle. „Ryeowook and Eunhyuk,” Leeteuk replies not noticing how Donghae freezes in place at his statement. “How do you know?” The Chinese band-mate asks curiously. “Hyukkie texted me saying that he and Wookie are going to eat out today,” the leader explains with a smile on his face. “I see. Oh, and you know what? I think the food wouldn’t go to waste…Shindong would gladly eat two more servings,” Hankyung points out with a grin. “Yeah, you’re right. Shindong would devour them in no time,” Leeteuk agrees laughing and shaking his head I amusement. “He should go on a diet,” Donghae mutters icily, eyes dark and a deep frown gracing his features. Leeteuk and Hankyung stare at him in shock. “Uh, Donghae? I think it will be better if I cut the vegetables myself,” Hankyung reasons extending his palm expectantly while laughing nervously and eyeing the knife in the other man’s hand. Donghae glances at him, at his raised palm and then looks down at the knife in his own hand. “Yeah, sure, you do it,” the dancer agrees and hands the cutting device to the other man. Hankyung and Leeteuk release a sigh of relief. “Donghae, maybe you should go rest for a bit?” The Chinese dancer suggests. “No. I promised to help you with today’s dinner so I’m going to keep my word,” Donghae states with finality in his voice. He doesn’t want to go to his room because if he did he would think about unnecessary things…like Eunhyuk’s absence for instance…so he prefers to busy himself with something, anything to distract himself from disturbing thoughts. “Okay…” Hankyung says slightly confused and looks at Leeteuk as if asking What’s up with him? The leader shrugs his shoulders showing he doesn’t know either. “Then I’ll be going now,” Leeteuk excuses himself but just as he is about to leave the kitchen he decides to turn to the other person present in the room. “ Kyuhyun…so you’re hiding in the kitchen,” the leader smirks unable to stop himself. “I’m not hiding!” The maknae of the group denies angrily and resumes sipping his green tea. “Sure you’re not,” the leader replies releasing a chuckle and leaves the kitchen ignoring the dirty look Kyuhyun sends him.
~~~~~~~~
During dinner the atmosphere is quite cheery as most of the members seem to entertain themselves by teasing the maknae of the group. “I still can’t believe that the king of Starcraft actually lost to Sungmin today!”Kangin exclaims laughing his head off. “I was just lucky,” Sungmin tries to help Kyuhyun, though he himself suppresses the urge to burst out laughing at the thought of the almighty Kyu losing a game, his favourite one to boot! “Yeah, but even if you were lucky it doesn’t change the fact that THE gameKyu L.O.S.T.!” Hee Chul erupts in a roar of giggles, unable to control himself and in fact, not even trying. At all the teasing, the maknae emanates a dark, dreadful aura glaring daggers at everyone and struggling to hold his temper at bay but being dangerously near failing. “So…Sungmin, how does it feel to dethrone the king?” Shindong asks releasing a chuckle. “Oh, I bet it feels amazing! After all, he beat the invincible Kyu!” Hee Chul peevs amused to no end. Kyuhyun finally loses it, “It’s all his faulf!” he shouts pointing his finger at Yesung, who is drinking his apple juice. Upon hearing the accusation, Yesung spits the juice out and looks wide eyed at the maknae as if the other man was mental. “What the fuck, Kyuhyun?! How the hell is it my fault that you lost at Starcraft?!” Yesung demands bewildered by the other man’s words. “It just is!” Kyuhyun exclaims feeling frustrated. “And they say I’m the weird one…” Yesung mutters under his breath and continues eating his dinner. The members have fun at the maknae’s expense and even Leeteuk and Hankyung, who feel sympathetic towards the youngest have to look away to hide their giggling. Only Donghae doesn’t take part in this whole Kyuhyun-lost-at-Starcraft thing. He just sits at the table picking at his food, a blank expression on his face. Truth is, the dancer doesn’t have an appetite and feels rather depressed so it doesn’t really come as a surprise that he abandons the food he worked so hard to prepare, gets up from the table and drags his feet to his room.
Eunhyuk’s P.O.V.
“Ryeowook…how often do you do charity work?” I ask as we enter the super junior dorm. The eternal maknae tilts his head to the side to think for a moment before replying, “About 3 times a month…why?” He asks curiously. “Nothing…I just think you’re amazing,” I say truthfully and push the door open to let us inside. “What are you saying? I’m not amazing or anything…” Ryeowook denies shyly, blushing slightly at the compliment. “So hyung, would you like to go with me again sometime?” He adds shortly after while taking his shoes off. “Yeah, I think I’d like to go again,” I smile in confirmation, also removing my footwear. “Ok. It’s a deal then. You can’t back out now, hyung,” Ryeowook warns jokingly as he retreats to his room. “Oh, I’m not going to, you can rest assured,” I answer chuckling a bit before heading to the living room, where I find Leeteuk hyung reading a book. Upon hearing footsteps, the leader looks up and welcomes me back with a warm smile. “How was it?” He asks putting away his book and getting up from the couch. “It was ok,” I reply smiling sadly and watch Leeteuk hyung approach me. He wraps his arms around me and hugs me gently saying, “You two were at the homeless people centre to help with serving them hot meals and then you went to the hospital to visit children suffering from leukemia, right?” The leader asks but it is rather a statement than a question. “Yeah,” I confirm and lean into Leeteuk’s arms seeking comfort. “All these homeless people…either having no family or having them turn their back on those lonely people, who basically have nothing beside their own life…And the children…they’re so young…they should have a happy childhood with lots of laughter and cheerful memories…and then live a very long life…Why do they have to bear so much pain? And still…despite their condition, they can smile so brightly at you…” I ponder feeling slightly drained emotionally. “I know exactly what you mean. Feeling like this is perfectly normal, it happens every time you visit such places, Hyuk…” The leader explains tracing circles on my back in a soothing manner. “Yeah…but you know what, hyung? I still want to repeat it and go there again, even if it won’t make much difference…” I admit with a small smile, grateful for the other man’s support. “I’m proud of you, my dear dongsaeng,” Leeteuk praises me in a soft voice. We stand like this for a while, me taking comfort in Leeteuk hyung’s warmth, until I feel the familiar shiver run down my spine, this unsettling feeling I started to experience recently. Nervous, I start looking around and sure enough I find Kangin standing in the threshold to the room, murderous intent in the air. What is up with him? I’m sure I didn’t do anything to him so what is his problem?! If looks could kill… I would be dead in a heartbeat. But wait…what is he looking at? Curious, I follow his gaze and as a result my eyes fall on my hands wrapped around Leeteuk’s waist. Why is he so enraged just looking at my hands? I stand perplexed for a few seconds before it finally occurs to me, what exactly is responsible for Kangin’s foul mood. Now, everything seems to make perfect sense and as I’m aware of the whole situation, an amused smile tugs at my lips.
