i decided last night on my way home from work that i needed to do something with this remaining time in my current residence so started sending out emails to buddies in bands about doing another comp. I probably sent out 5-6 emails last night, woke up this morning with resounding yes responses from all but one. i must be doing something right
i went through and uploaded all of my previous stuff to ilike.com last night. They offer free streaming and instant bulletins across all of the major social networking sites which i need to learn to take better advantage of.
looking back from my first comp to current, it was pretty awesome seeing how most of the bands have progressed since then. Most of them are still together (always a plus) and some of them have moved on to far greener pastures.
it was weird having to think, how long until some lawyer writes to tell me to take down such and such song? I do most 'business' through email so i have some proof that i have permission, but especially with one of them recently signing a 50+ page contract, i doubt my email saying sure dude, use this song if you want, will really hold up.
I went through my website last night and removed some questionables, mainly songs on loan from another label from various artists just to shore that up a bit, but i'd say it's only a matter of time unfortunately. another good thing about digital distro is it's a lot easier to swallow removing a link than repressing a bunch of cds
