RENTalong!

Aug 16, 2010 03:00

So my roomies and I just had a spontaneous RENT sing-along in the kitchen (this...um, happens often. The last time was Next to Normal), and I had so much fun that I am thinking of doing it as a project for my next theater class! Well, assuming I can get away with it. But otherwise, er, that's what the summer is for ( Read more... )

Awesome! :D I anticipated it being difficult to find a director, so yes, awesome! I was actually really hoping that you'd be willing to help, but knowing that you have a love/hate sort of relationship with theater, wasn't sure that would happen.

To respond to your points:

Ok sure you can do casting, but please try to take people's wishes into account to the best of your ability! Of course, as I said, also taking talent into account too. But we do want this to be fun. And it's not professional theater. Nobody is really getting anything out of participating aside from mere enjoyment, so it would be good if the actors/singers actually do enjoy themselves. ;-)

As for choreography, Aisha may want to help with that, but the two of you could certainly work together. :)

You will not be expected to put *any* money into it. Costumes will be either the individual responsibility of the actors playing the parts, or the responsibility of the costuming person if we get one. As for a performance venue, I may be able to get one for free (particularly if Lesley has a super secret stage somewhere on campus...), but otherwise I will cover most expenses for that. If it is super expensive, which I doubt it being, I may ask that people split some of the expenses, but only to the degree that they can. Set and props and programs: same. This is for college, so I should be able to get some funding, either from the college or from the government that is paying for me to go to college. ;-)

As I said, I anticipate it being fairly low-commitment. I'm busy too, and I'm sure so are most others who will be involved. Especially considering, most of my friends are college grads, either with a full-time job or grad school on their plate. So you're not alone in this. And if perchance you do feel that you are being expected to commit more than you prefer or are able, by all means just let me know and we can work something out.

I am certainly hoping to round up enough people to make it work! Between my theater geek friends and TTO and college, we should be able to get just enough, if not everyone we need. *crosses fingers on this*

As for timeline, this is a very early shout-out for interest. I don't anticipate being able to take a theater class until the summer or fall of 2011, so that is when this would happen.
