What a difference a week makes

And peace returns to the Den. Andrew made a beer offering to Huon, which was accepted. They're friends again. Proud of Andrew for making the effort. Proud of Huon for accepting the effort and not carrying on too much about it.

In other news, due to the friction Huon is considering taking a room at Henry's share house. And while I really want Huon to start moving on with his life, I really don't think that is the right direction. The place is a dump with a revolving door of new housemates. I told him I would not allow him to take Smudge there. It wouldn't be safe, and he'd be terrified of all the constant noise and new people. Not to mention I wouldn't even remotely trust them with house cat security. The thought of Smudge lost alone in Redfern actually made me burst into tears. No, if Huon decides to go then Smudge will stay with me, and Huon will have visitation any time he wants to.

Aaaand Mum is progressing well with her radiation treatment. One a day for five weeks. It doesn't hurt (yet) and takes hardly any time. Apparently after four weeks she'll start to feel really tired, and get a hell of a sunburn, but otherwise that's it.

The doctors at this point are looking at performing radiation on one her lungs, which will essentially kill a large chunk of it, and surgery on the other. But they will continue to monitor and do test until her leg treatment is done, and then make a final decision.

Andrew made a brilliant suggestion. On Xmas morning I'm getting up at stupid o'clock with him, heading to the fish markets and buying my Mum all the prawns and bugs she can eat. Prawns are pretty much her favourite thing ever, so I think it's a gift she'll really appreciate.
