Fly Still

Anyway, I still have no idea how to use the camera but apparently that isn't much of an issue most of the time. You can snap away and get some interesting shots every once in a while. For some reason I got fixated on bugs while I was taking some pics of flowers for dad and that spawned the need to capture the bumblebee. I ended up getting one that wasn't bad. This guy, the fly that took modeling to a professional level, was awesome. Sat still for me, let me take as many as I wanted. Never loved a fly as much as I did right then.

Hurricane Bill didn't hit Moncton all that hard. Just made a mess of my hair and left the city a little cooler than it has been in the last two weeks.

Sunday Mourning

First was the wake for a friend/coworker's husband. He was in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday and it has been pretty sad all around. It was the first time I've ever been to a memorial in a bar and it was pretty fitting considering the guy. One of those live life to the fullest, never met a meal he didn't like, golfer, fisherman, baseball fanatic (Go Yankees!), assistant amateur hockey coach, text messager, potato chip lover, traveller, expert paint salesman, best friend any guy could have, etc, etc, etc. Lots of people were there and it was fun watching people meet other people they knew but had no idea that they both knew Mitch in some way.

I'll always remember him as the guy that would wave at me whenever I walked past his store on my way to get a haircut or on a quick run to Shopper's. And he lent me his G10 so that I could play with it and said, "Sometimes you just have to treat yourself." Apparently that wisdom worked on me because a couple days later, that was the camera I bought the Friday before he died.

Afterward, movie buddy and I went to Skipper Jack's for seafood (comfort food) and then to see Inglourious Basterds (comfort movie). Weird to admit but the violent Nazi movie was comforting. Quentin Tarantino has a way of sucking you in and you have no idea what is about to happen, sometimes a brain needs to be hijacked like that.

obit, weather, movies
