I'm going to have to pass on the poem bug that seems to have struck everyone recently.  I'm a pirate, not a poet.

So, anyone interesting out there?  There are quite a few characters in this place, or so I've noticed, but that begs the question of exactly who they are--one I intend to have answered today.  So, tell me a little about yourself.  I'm

Somehow I always find the ones with aspirations of being a pirate... Or at least find it interesting.

Nah, I like being myself just fine. I just think that pirates are cool...kinda like ninjas. But that just may be because Lilo has a lot of books about pirates...and movies. Those are good too...

Books I know. What are these "movies?"

Ah, a pirate? I envy the lifestyle of freedom you must enjoy, amigo!

And myself? I am a wanderer on the bleak roads of existence, cold with only the warmth in my coffee cup and in my tired heart to keep on moving-- a pop philosopher, condemner of the guilty and ungodly cool guy who hides his true face from the world beneath a strange mask...

But all men wear masks, whether over their faces or over their hearts. That's one of my rules.

That's the lure of it all, to be quite honest. Men weren't meant to stay caged when they're given wings.

A strange mask, indeed. Mind if I ask what manner of device that is?

Interesting rule. Never been one for rules, myself, but I suppose that much is obvious enough from my profession.

Well, amigo, every man has his own perspective on the world. My little metallic girlfriend here allows me to get a new one-- any by that I mean "one at all". Get my drift?

My main rule is that I only follow the rules I make for myself. It's the best way to buy a little freedom in my world.

A machine that cures blindness... As loathe to admit it as I am, I find that absolutely fascinating. Any idea how it works?

Now that is a rule I wouldn't mind following.

... Sir. Being a pirate is against the law.

.......

I had no idea.

There's no need to be sarcastic! I just wasn't sure if it might be different in your world than it is in mine.

But we're not in my world anyway, so I was going to say you're lucky.

Not at all. Just as illegal there as it would be where you're from. I just have a penchant for keeping and getting out of a jail cell.

Oh, there's more than one story I could tell. The luck of the draw's not been particularly kind to the world I'm from. But I've taken outrunning the things on the ground. Far easier to escape to the skies, I've found.

Yet another man of the skies. This place just seems full to the brim with irony, doesn't it? A pirate surrounded with treasure that's far too boring to steal, those who prefer the skies to the ground trapped beneath domes... One has to wonder what next.

Whatever cards fate has in store for us. Sadly the only way to know what they are is to play the hands as they come.

As long as fate doesn't have a few cards hidden up her sleeves, then I think we'll all manage.

Pirate?? YOU SAID YOU WERE AN ACTOR-SORT-OF.

I never said anything of the sort. Just when it suits me, and that happens to be whenever I need to make an escape or worm my way into a treasury.

Well, when you say it like that, now it makes sense! That's awesome. Hey, what's the coolest thing you've ever stolen? Ever have to wrestle with the long arm of the law? Do you have a pirate crew? Secret pirate hideout where your greatest treasure is buried? *w*

Coolest thing I've ever stolen? That all depends on what you find interesting. Airships... powerful, magical stones... a fair bit of gil... Only kept one airship, however, and I'm quite glad I got rid of the more powerful of the second group.

A man can't be lucky forever. That's when you get to ingenuity.

You could say that.

You read far too many stories, I think.
