Flist icon drabbles Part 16

Oct 20, 2005 15:32

Yay! More drabbles! Sorry, I got stuck on the first icon on this set and couldn't move on for a while. *feels shame* But the next five are moving much more quickly, and I'm beginning to see the end of the tunnel from here. Just have to stop adding new people to my flist is all. *waves at new friends* Kidding! Everyone'll get a drabble.

You know, eventually.

These five brings the total number of drabbles written up to 80, in 27 different fandoms (yeah, I didn't know it was that many fandoms, either). There have also been 11 original fiction drabbles.

Enough blathering. Here are the next five (for littera_abactor, lordofthechaos, luna_k, magsterama, and makesomelove) that cover Finding Nemo, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and a Real Genius drabble that I'm not taking responsibility for. Oh, and another original fic drabble.

littera_abactor (Finding Nemo, seagull, 101 words)

He settled onto the top of a comfortable sailboat shortly after dawn and surveyed his domain. It was good to be a seagull.

Something shiny. "Mine."

Something soft. "Mine."

Something that might be food. "Mine."

Something that's definitely not food. "Mine."

Another bird. "Mine."

A sunburnt tourist. "Mine."

An angry fisherman. "Mine."

A button on the ground. "Mine."

A leaf in the breeze. "Mine."

Sand on the beach. "Mine."

A rock near the pier. "Mine."

A statue in the park. "Mine."

A bright red balloon. "Mine."

Oh yeah. Life is good, if a little short on meaningful conversation, as a seagull.

lordofthechaos (Original fic, 100 words)

"Oh my God. It's a detergent called Barf."

"There can't possibly be such a thing."

"Look, it's right on that shelf. Barf makes your clothes clean!"

"Um, never in my experience, no."

"But it says so. Look, magic brightness! Lemon scented! What's not to love?"

"It's called 'Barf.'"

"I'm not saying we use it on our clothing."

"What are you saying?"

"I'm saying I see the best Christmas present in the history of the world staring at us from the top of a Central Asian supermarket shelf."

"So we'll need, what, two cases of the stuff?"

"Better make it three."

luna_k (Star Wars, Padmé/Anakin, 101 words)

She was a respected Senator, her voice a trained tool to help argue her position against beings twice her size, three times her age and from planets four times as large as Naboo.

But when Anakin was near it was like someone else was in control of her body. Her heart beat faster and her brain couldn't come up with anything more useful to say than "No, I love you more," or "Oh, Annie."

Some part of her wondered if this was the way love was supposed to work. The other parts were too busy enjoying being thoroughly kissed to care.

magsterama (Real Genius, Chris/Mitch, 101 words)

Chris decided to do something to lower Mitch's stress levels before his head popped like a champagne cork. For one thing, Mitch-goo would be hard to get out of the carpet. For another, Chris liked him. Mitch reminded him of, well, himself.

Chris thought about what he did to relax: drink excessively, mock Ken, have meaningless sex with anyone…perfect.

When Mitch finally came into the room, he found Chris sprawled across his bed wearing nothing but a pair of plastic antennae. Their subsequent activities stopped Mitch from worrying about finals for an hour, though, so Chris considered the experiment a success.

makesomelove (Lord of the Rings (movieverse), Aragorn, 100 words)

Breathing fresh air after leaving the Path of the Dead was no comfort to Aragorn. He had finally embraced his destiny, named himself King, asked for aid from those who should be despised and forgotten.

And they had denied it to him.

His legs gave way underneath him as the full implication of that "no" set in. Boromir's death, Frodo's journey, the Rohirrim Riders racing towards Gondor. All for nothing. He had failed them.

Even Legolas's hand on his shoulder was no comfort. As the darkness that had settled over the land finally crept into his soul, Aragorn knew despair.
