Brigade Motto
The brigade commander decided to change the brigade motto. He decided to change it by not changing it.
The motto has been, and remains, "READY NOW." In the memorandum disseminated to the brigade the commander has created a creed that he wants the motto to be interpreted as. So "READY NOW" now means to be "POLITE, PROFESSIONAL, AND PREPARED TO KILL."
So... The commander wants to change the motto, but he is not changing it. Instead, he wants us to mentally substitute our new creed for the motto while outwardly keeping the motto the same.
I understand what he is doing. I really do. But... I'm not even sure what I want to say.
