Vale dear Felicity

Aug 10, 2008 15:54

Just home from the coast, through a blizzard (this side of the mountains) no less. Was a good weekend.

Until I just talked to my Mum and read my email.

A dear friend from high school and Uni passed away last Wednesday. She was my age, 33. This is quite amazing as Felicity had cystic fibrosis. She never let it stop her though, she was Dr Felicity Smith and used her PhD in psychology to work with troubled youth in my home town. She was bright, beautiful and a constant inspiration.

She'd been in hospital for the last 7 weeks, so it wasn't a terrible shock to hear she'd passed away. None-the-less it is still a tragedy.

Vale Felicity. I will always remember you at our year 12 Deb ball, you looked like a faery princess. The world is a much poorer place with you gone.

vale, sad, felicity, weekend
