Wonderful Weekend

So, I figured this weekend was so fabulous that it belonged in my LJ. :-)

I came home on Friday for midterm break and spent the evening enjoying a nice dinner of matzah ball soup and shopping (I got new black jeans). The rest of the night, I just hung out and was lazy because hey, I deserve that every now and again. ;-)

Saturday, I woke up late, watched a movie, got some work done, and lazed about a little bit more, which I probably should NOT have done because it means tomorrow I will be doing lots of work...but maybe the pressure will do me some good...? Then, around 8:45 Joe got to my house. I was so nervous all day for no particular reason...I just wanted to see him so badly it was making me jumpy and unable to focus. Just having him back in my arms made me feel really good. We just chilled out all night together, and I was a happy girl.

Today, we joined Dan, Bill, Linda, Lauren, Steve, and Dan and Linda's friend Chris for our annual trip to the PA Renaissance Faire. We all went as pirates, who just happened to be the enemy team this year, so it was fun rooting for them against England in the human chess match. (Joe, Lauren, and I couldn't stay for the joust because Joe and I had to get home for yummy dinner.) As Joe and I got to the faire first, we went in, I got my little bracelet that said I could drink (Joe didn't get one because he wasn't going to drink at all), and then we went and got delicious food at Sir Loin's Sirloin (cute, eh?). Joe got steak on a stake, and I got a steak sandwich with cheese...oh so tasty. Then, the second car of people (Dan, Bill, Linda, and Chris) arrived, and we met them at the wine sampling. Now, I'm a picky person when it comes to wine, but I tried three different ones within about 20 minutes and liked them all...so really, I should have bought a bottle as I was leaving, and I'm regretting that I did not. Oh, and if you have never tried hot wine, I highly recommend it, especially if you are at the faire and try either the spiced apple (fans of apple cider will LOVE it) or the holiday wine. Both are AMAZING hot. I had never heard of hot wine...but now I love it.

Anyhow...as I'm really NOT a drunk...

I spent most of the day just with Joe, as people kept getting separated/lost, but that was fine with me because we had a lovely time. We went across the kissing bridge about three times (hehe) in our travels and generally just wandered and looked at shops and things. We saw one show that was a comedy/illusions/Monty Python hack/skit thing, which was very amusing and had a girl whose personality reminded me of a friend of mine. Also, like I said, we went to see the human chess match, as we always do, although for some reason, this year the falseness of the whole thing really got to me. It wasn't as if I didn't see it before...just this year, it really hit me. Maybe all these years in a row of going to the faire has started to make it more of a novelty to me...I dunno...I still love it, though.

I didn't end up buying ANYTHING in the end, not even a small gift for someone. Like I said, I really should have bought a bottle of wine, but I would have wanted the holiday wine, and I'm not sure our microwave at school would have made it appropriately hot without boiling it, which is not good. So...we'll see if I can get some online or if I'll have to suffer without it.

What made this weekend really fabulous was my wonderful boyfriend. As I don't get to see him very often during the school year, the time we have together has to make up for a lot, and this weekend definitely did. All I need to do is cuddle with him, settling into his comfiness, and just look into his eyes, and nothing in the world can be wrong. He makes me feel like I am worth something, like I am a good person, and that I can accomplish anything. His vote of confidence means the world to me and helps me keep a level head. I am more than lucky to have someone so amazing.
