I still love you, Remus, even if you were cut!

So I guess it's my turn to give my thoughts on the Order of the Phoenix.

And I must say I have mixed feelings about it. I think I partially ruined it for myself by seeing all the interviews and pictures and whatever else I could get my hands on pre-release. There was a lot that they cut. A lot that I really liked that they cut. And so when I'm sitting in my chair, giggling with anticipation, I was a little more than disapointed. But no matter. That's my own fault.

Okay, I'm going to voice my disapointments anyways, though understand that they are completely personal to me, and do not reflect the quality of the movie:
1) Lack of Remus time. I know, I'm expecting a lot more than is necessary, but Lupin, guys! He's so awesome! And to cut him from the advance guard and add all these other guys was shamefull. Really.
2) Snape's Worst Memory. I saw a picture of Harry standing in the memory looking at his mother at his own age. It was so sad, and I was so looking forward to it. Also related: why the heck does James have brown hair?
3) Battle at the Ministry. It was way too too short. I had seen clips of Sirius and Bellatrix really duelling hard core, with the whole "you can do better than that, Cousin" line. Plus I missed Ron's "Accio brain" line, though I wasn't expecting that.

I think that's mainly what is bothering me. Now onto what I liked:
1) The style was cool. I liked the newspaper transitions and Umbridge interviewing the staff. I also liked the dreams and the flashbacks to older films. Harry's possession by Voldemort was great.
2) Voldemort vs Dumbledore was awesome!! Perfect amount of time. Just great. Great great great!
3) New characters Bellatrix and Luna were perfect! Absolutely perfect! And Snape cracked me up. Oh, Snape. Oh Alan Rickman.

Okay, that's three each. Overall I think I liked it. I just got back and am tired, so I'm not thinking that clearly - I just wanted to get my thoughts out quickly before they fade. It was a very difficult book to turn to a film, since so much happens that doesn't follow a straight narrative line. It's what makes the book so great, but also makes transforming it into a film so challenging. At times it did seem a bit choppy, and there were times you knew parts were cut, since it didn't all make quite a lot of sense (clear example was when Harry, with Ron and Hermione, is trying to access the Flew (sp?) network and all of a sudden the six of them are in the office with Draco and his gang. At the same time I really have to give credit to the director for fitting so much of the book in, and keeping as much canon as possible ("How was it?" "Wet") ("Just because you have the emotional capacity of a teaspoon..."), and making such a dark story funny. Yeah. I think I liked it. :)

P.S. I burst out laughing at that heroic picture of Cedric they kept in the Room of Requirement. Oh, Ced. You were hot.
