Imagine you and I and a bunch of our friends are seven years old. We're playing the rough game "King of the Mountain" on a huge pile of dirt. Since there are some girls among us, we've changed the name of the game to "Awesome Magic Boss of the Mountain." Today, you're the strongest one, warding off all challenges to your authority, pushing away everyone who tries to knock you off your place at the top. Oh, do I wish that were true. The week that this one represented sucked ass (hindsight 20/20).
The film Avatar hammers out such vehement anti-military, anti-capitalist, and anti-imperialist themes that it could have been endorsed by the leftist rock band Rage Against the Machine. And yet it's the highest-grossing film in the history of the world. One critic marveled at its popularity in even the most conservative areas of America, noting that it got "a theater full of people in Kentucky to stand and applaud the defeat of their country in war." Your assignment in the coming week is to do what Avatar has done: Try to make sure that your opponents and skeptics are entertained by your message -- maybe even excited and intrigued.

Well, I disagree with Mr. Brezsny on his narrow interpretation of that movie....but that's another essay. At this point, given the BS I feel I've been going through, I really don't give a shit what my opponents and skeptics think of my message, much less have a clear idea of what is said message. Granted, that might change by the weekend. Who knows. I do have some changes that are going to be made in the coming weeks. Once I get signed up to take care of my massage CEUs, I'm going to start working on my yoga certs. Since I can't hold on to an instructor, at this point, I might as well include myself as an instructor.
With that said, I'm doing my best to try and stay positive in an environment that is pushing me to feel worthless. I really need to drop those habits, so I am.
In putting this public, as it's a long time in coming, the week before ProgPower will be my last week at my only long-term contract. I'm putting in my resignation, canceling the contract. The drama and BS factor is too much, and I don't have the money to wait around on them to get things together to give me the minimum of what I have asked for from them. It's time to make things happen on my side, I've been patient. The plus side, I will be driving my car less, and that is all I have wanted.
