This was a triumph

Still alive. I dropped out of Nanowrimo to take care of myself because I felt like adding additional stress to my life would only be bad and I’ve pretty much proven I can write for the rest of the year, anyway. Nanowrimo is great, but if you write year-round, it’s not much but a bunch of people trying to motivate you and telling you to write. My ( Read more... )

I just discovered Brooklyn 99 while procrastinating. It is sooo funny.

I'm sorry about your health problems *hugs* I'm still hoping we can meet up at some point in the distance future. Have fun on your trips!

You're totally on my list of "people to meet up with in 2014." Because I want to hear all about your time away from society and these fascinating things you've noticed. :) And thanks for the hugs!

I wasn't expecting to like B99. Whenever I saw a preview, all I saw was how annoying Andy Samberg is, but they really play well with that, and I loooove Terry and Captain Holt. And Diaz. She hates everything.

Yes, I'm so glad they call attention to his annoyingness. And Diaz is my new fictional girlfriend.

I also mostly quit NaNo (I'm trying to write every day, but I've given up on word count). Too much stress.

And I hope to be around Missouri sometime in 2014, I'll let you know once I've updated travel plans.

I feel like Diaz and Natasha would just have mad respect for each other. And Clint would find Peralta really amusing. *bounces* YES. MISSOURI. IT IS THE GREATEST. You should try and come for Midwest Fandom Congress. I could use another anti Clint/Coulson person.

I feel like they would talk to each other about something completely innocuous, and the people around them would be terrified.

And what is this Midwest Fandom Congress of which you speak? I'm always here for casting subtle shade on Clint/ Coulson.

OMG THAT WOULD BE THE BEST.

We meet up every couple of months in the IL/MO region and we're doing a big meet-up during St. Louis Comic Con/the release of Winter Soldier. You've got free accommodations if you do decide to come out! :) And most of the people here are Clint/Coulson shippers, so we tease each other goodnaturedly.

Awesome :) I will probably be unable to attend in April, but we'll see what happens a few months down the road.

If there's an anti-Clint/Coulson club, I may join. Even if I have to go to Missouri. Not that I have inherent issues with the concept (the first Avengers stories I ever read were C/C) but it's so pervasive, it's not funny. I swear, two-thirds of the Avengersfest stories were Clint/Coulsons ...

Although my fanfiction wife and I are thinking of going to Las Vegas for the big annual Star Trek con next summer. I could get all of the Voyager cast to autograph the book she had bound for me ... :-)

Can I join that same club? I have the same annoyance with C/C. It's starting to come up in SHIELD fics as well, and I would like to read about other characters (and pairings! and even better, friendships), please.

Yeah, I knew the AOS fic would be overtaken by that pairing. I am so sorry you have to deal with that. :(

I don't hate the pairing per se... I just wish there was more of other stuff, you know? But yes, it was something we could all count on.

Yeah, that's the problem with powerhouse pairings. They overwhelm everything.

In Stargate Atlantis fandom, we called it "the ship that ate the fandom" ... Avengers has at least two. I will be happy in my small-ish sandboxes playing with characters and pairings I enjoy. :)

What?!?!? If anything, i would think SHIELD fics would move away from it b/c it kinda shows Coulson is thinking of everything but Clint?

Oh sweeetie... there's one thing called logic and there's another thing called C/C fiction. And I am being mean to C/C shippers, but I don't think they care too much. Which, okay, I understand, I shipped "impossible" things before. Like, say, Draco/Hermione from Harry Potter. Tell me it's impossible and I'll just end up defending it like mad. I don't mind people shipping Clint and Coulson, or whatever they want to ship, and filling in the blanks, or basing entire headcanons on bits of conversation or very few shared scenes. And that's what fic is for. What makes me feel so very tired are pairings that eat out everything else and are so overwhelmingly pervasive, like Steve/Tony or Clint/Coulson. (however, being in smaller ship - fandoms is much more fun!)

Oh my goodness. This comment is cracking me up. I was thinking the same thing when hufflepuffsneak mentioned casting subtle shade...I was thinking, "nah, lets not be subtle." ;) I'm all for impossible pairings (been feelng Loki/Sif lately although I know its impossible and kinda mean to her)...its your point though. Its so prevalent. I'm wondering if some people just read it in other fanfics and adopt it to headcanon that way.

Personally I wouldn't mind Coulson/May in the show...I know the "pairings" are so obvious and they won't all go in that direction (dying of cuteness over Fitz and Simmons right now) , but I just love her stoic leather bad-assery next to Coulson's more subtle suited bad-assery.

Hey. Maybe that's what people see in C/C? ;)
